I would do it! We tagged along to NYC twice when DH had to go back there for work. Our kids were 4 and 1 yo at the time. We had lived there before though, so were used to small spaces and city life. We had a double stroller and walked everywhere around Times Square... up to Columbus Circle/Lincoln Sq area, around the Theater District and Hells Kitchen, and down to Herald Square and the Flatiron area.

My kids are stroller nappers though and so it was easy to walk around in the evenings and not worry about being confined to the hotel at certain times. We still didn't stay out too late and had lots of fun during the day!

Heck yeah! My toddler and I tagged along with my husband to New Orleans last year and had a blast. Hopefully going to do it again in a few months. The hassle was way less than the awesome, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I'd do it -- we've had many successful hotel stays with a baby/toddler of all ages. Just keep her routine as close to at home as possible and she'll probably do great, as long as your DH is cool with hiding under the blanket with the iPad. I've done that many a night.

I would bring them! We went to NYC and stayed on 35th st/6th ave when DS was 10 months. We were also confined to the room after he went to bed, but we would just order drinks and hang out. We did spring for a suite so it was a little larger.

We are also from the west coast, so DS was staying up later while we were there so we could do a little more that way. He would nap in the stroller while we were out.

I guess I would leave it up to my DH to decide.

I took my DD (I was still nursing) with me on a work conference and my mom came along to watch her.

We were able to upgrade to a larger corner room but the bathroom was tiny - no way a crib would fit there. Since my mom watched her during the day she would leave at 7 or so when DD went to bed and I sat in the bathroom with my laptop :silly:

Once she was asleep I could lay in bed and do stuff on the computer. I went to bed at 930ish so it wasn't too long to be "quiet"

@snowjewelz: He will have my tablet and his phone, he should be good with that, as long as he loads them up with movies and shows. About the noise when I get back, I'm not sure, to be honest. We plan on taking the noise machine and hoping for the best?

@hilsy85: I looked at the pictures of the rooms at the hotel we're staying at...I think the "bathroom" is a toilet with a door and the shower is in the room with a curtain around it! Crazytownsmall. This hotel was chosen by our customer.

@locavore_mama: I considered that but the hotel is sold out already, wah. Oh FUN! Thanks for the suggestion!!

I dunno, I might be tempted, but in a small space, having to work 4 to midnight, I might want a little momcation.

I would! Is there anyone you can pay for an upgrade yourself for an ensuite so DH has a space to hang out, watch TV and not feel like he has to tiptoe around? Even if it's just a sitting room?

ETA: You have to take her to Toys R Us at Times Square! There's a huge ferris wheel inside!

I would! It's only a weekend, so even if she doesn't sleep great, you would still have had that fun day together! Do you have a white noise machine you can bring? That's what we do when we go away. Also, you might be able to fit the crib in the bathroom--we do that, and that way, it's super dark and we can hang out in the room while LO sleeps.

Do you have to stay in Times Square? or are there other locations available?

I think I would! Since you are free during the day, it would be nice to include your daughter in the sightseeing & walking around. If you were only free at night then I would've said take your husband only :)

Would he be okay to read a book? Or does he have a tablet that he can watch things on w/ headphones? Does your daughter sleep well w/ noise? I'm thinking when you come back into the room she might wake up a little bit too?

I am going to NYC for work next month. I have the option of taking my husband and daughter along with us for the trip. We're staying at a hotel in Times Square and they do provide cribs.

I'll be working the 4pm-midnight shift so, we will have the day together and then my husband will have our daughter for dinner and bedtime. As you know, hotel rooms in NYC are notoriously small and this one is no exception. After 7pm, they will be in the hotel room...her sleeping...him trying to find something quiet to do with little light.

So, what would you do? Would you take the husband and toddler with you and make a fun weekend trip out of it or would you leave them at home?
