It used to knock me out! But, like all the good cold meds, since they had to change their formulas thanks to meth heads stealing the meds for cooking up meth, I think it's pretty weak now. :/ ah, I long for the good old days of good cold meds!

Good idea... maybe I will take a half dose super early! I just feel like I need to get some sleep to get better.

@krispi: This is what I do as well. 1/2 the recommended dose and take it a bit early. I hate feeling groggy in the morning!

If I absolutely have to take it on a work night (like if I'm so sick I can't sleep), I will usually take a half dose and take it earlier than my normal bedtime.

Not my proudest confession, but the other day I was up at 4am sick & NyQuil was all we had, I was off for the day, so I took it. It KICKED my ass! It wasn't until 8pm that I actually felt fully alert. But I don't ever take stuff like that so I have no tolerance. I would give yourself 12+ hrs before needing to function if you're not sure how you'll react, maybe take it after dinner & try to crash early or take Motrin & some Benadryl, the Benadryl will dry up your nose & help you sleep & the Motrin will decrease inflation & any soreness. Sudafed will keep most ppl up though, so avoid that. Hope you feel better soon!

Everyone reacts differently. I avoid it on work nights because I need a good 10-12 hours of sleep or I'm ridiculously groggy. Feel better!

I have a horrible cold and I didn't get much sleep last night. My DH said I should take some Nyquil to help me sleep tonight (Sunday night) so I can recover.

But I am nervous taking Nyquil on a Sunday night and having to get up at 6:30 to go to work on Monday! Does Nyquil knock you out, or do you think I'll be okay if I take it early enough, like 7 or 8pm? I just don't want to be falling asleep while I'm driving to work!
