@MamaMoose: Haha! That could well be true. I'm known for getting facts around the wrong way, lol. If fact dyslexia was a real diagnosis, I think I would have it :)

@Penny Lane: That's so funny I've heard the exact opposite. Y sperm swim faster but die quicker! My friend who is a NP said that in IVF pregnancies girls are more common because the X sperm live longer and survive the procedure better.

@aunt pol: nudey cuddles! that made me giggle out loud, lol.

There's an old wives tale or something that says that the further away from actual ovulation day that you "nudey cuddle" the more likely you are to have a boy, because the Y sperm swim slower, but live longer, or something. Probably not all that much value in that though :P

But like everyone said, before you leave and after should be fine! :)

Thanks for the info, everyone! I know without me officially charting it's difficult to predict anything, but it's nice to know the possibilities still. :)

It's still possible, since the swimmers can live for up to 5 days! To increase your chances, BD before you leave and when you get back : )

As far as I understand it, unless you're taking temps etc it can be hard to accurately pinpoint ovulation - and then sperm are tough little divils, they can last a while in there, and doesn't the egg stay good for a day or two? I might be wrong too, I never really looked into it in huge detail.
I would say unless you've been trying for a long time with no success, have your nudey cuddles on Friday morning before you go, have a great weekend, and then nudey cuddles when you get home Sunday night:)

Sperms can stay up there for a few days. It just depends.

The hubby and I decided to start TTC this month (yay! since it was originally later this year). However, I don't chart anything. I have started tracking Aunt Flo's visit via What to Expect's Fertility app for a few months now. According to the app, it says my first fertile day is on Wed., March 28, and I'll likely ovulate on March 31.

Here's the bad news - my friend's destination bachelorette party is that weekend (Thur., Mar 29 - Sun., Apr 1). Is there any possible way for us to conceive still with the "golden" opportunity not there when I'm away???
