I intend to stick with my downtown hospital and doctor through labor and delivery. When we had our hospital tour, there was a suburban couple delivering there. When I had LO1, I gave birth in a large med center hospital. When I was 20 weeks pregnant with LO2, we moved to the suburbs.</p> <p>I kept my med center OB and hospital because I had a fantastic experience when LO1 was born and I did not want to gamble on finding an OB or suburban hospital that I wasn't as comfortable with. </p> <p>My OB advised me to call sooner rather than later when I was in labor (or suspected I was in labor) and to let the on-call physician know this was my second baby and I lived in xyz suburb so they would have all the information they needed to advise me on when to go to the hospital. </p> <p>My water broke on a Sunday, and the on-call OB told me to go to the hospital (even though I wasn't contracting at that time). We drove to the med center and we were only at the hospital 3-4 hours when LO2 was born.</p> <p>I was in labor with LO1 for 30 hours. I think I also wonder if it would be easier to be closer due to the amount of appointments (especially toward the end). I live in the same city as you so definitely understand as we live out in the 'burbs but I work in the city. I chose an OB and hospital 5 minutes from our house, but if I had a great experience with my first LO and loved my OB then I'd be really tempted to just do the same for LO2. The hospital we delivered at was only 2 years old and had access to the best and newest technology. It also was connected to one of the best children's hospitals in the country. We didn't end up needing any of that as I had a fairly normal and easy pregnancy and delivery, but it definitely gave me piece of mind. I also loved my doctor throughout the whole process. </p> <p>However, the hospital and doctor are around 25 miles away from our house (same place we lived while pregnant with LO1). I was working full time within 20 minutes from the hospital so I validated my choice with that. </p> <p>Now that we are trying for LO2, I wonder what to do. I work part time now and am only close to the hospital 2 days per week, and I have heard that the second child sometimes comes faster. I am terrified of a car birth :silly: that said, I love and trust my doctor. </p> <p>What would you do? </p>
