Well we hit the mark yesterday, my baby is official 1 year old. I'm sad, I'm thrilled, I'm happy for the next stage, but man they don't lie when they say it goes fast! We had a party on Saturday and celebrated yesterday as a family at the pumpkin patch, she loved it! She was giggling the whole time!

My favorite memories are her first smiles, her first giggles, and how she gives hugs/loves/and even those sloppy open mouth kisses. She's grown to have such a personality, she's sassy, silly, and determined, love it!

i can't believe our little babies are turning 1!! That is insane to me! I knew it would go fast, but I had no idea just how fast.

I'm a big emotional ball right now - happy, proud of myself and DH, in denial (I told someone the other day I "just" had a baby...the "just" totally slipped out before I caught myself). DD is the light of my life, and I'm just so happy! I definitely miss my little snuggler and blob though.

what are your birthday plans? What birthday traditions will you start this year? I am taking the day off of work to spend with her. We're having a birthday party the weekend before with the families and a few close friends. I haven't thought about any traditions...

What are some of your favorite memories over the past year? Looking into her eyes seconds after she was born and then primarily everyday moments with her- holding her and staring at her as she slept, seeing those initial smiles, seeing her big toothy smile now, each milestone.

@mrskc: :( I just don't know. I know I should be excited; but I'm not really. I am scared that years 2-18 will fly by. I am determined not to let them.
I am also TTC, so that makes it more tough. Some days, I think, 'he might be my last one' and that makes me want to hold on to the days even stronger.

lol I remember when she wouldn't sleep anywhere else at night except on mine or DHs chest in our recliner and I was all stressed about creating bad habits and blah blah blah.....needed to just focus on getting sleep, however it came!!!

I am so thrilled with life and how much she has brought to mine and DHs lives, we had it pretty good before and she just amplifies everything so positively, having a kid is so dang cool!!

No birthday plans, just something here with my parents, we've invited DHs parents from halfway across country, they wanted to come help us move and we said no, come in October to see Chels, us more settled, buuuuut we don't think they're coming.

We are going to take her to the pumpkin patch once or twice this month, we got married there, so it has great meaning to us, and will definitely be a yearly thing!

Favourite memories of the last year Last October, at the hospital, labour experience, bringing her home! In December taking her to the East Coast to meet DHs fam at Christmas! Introducing her to the Jolly Jumper, we got so much use from that, she loved it! First smiles, all that hair when it started to fall out!!! Giving her cheerios for the 1st time! When she did her first "hissy face", and then big smiles with just the two bottom, front teeth!

Fave thing right now is when I am holding her and DH kisses us goodbye when he leaves for work in the am, he kisses her first, then me. She pushes his face with her hand back to kiss me, it's soooo cute.

@mrskc: Aw the newborn snuggles were the BEST! I miss those too.

I was playing with E today and he picked up a stuffed dog. I realized that MIL had brought it to the hospital the day that he was born. It made me cry. Apparently the emotional mess is back :)

I remember our first night in the hospital. I let him sleep on my chest and he was so tiny and content. The nurse wanted me to keep him in the bassinet, but I wouldn't let her move him. I miss all those times where he would sleep on my chest or in my arms. The way he looked when he was milk drunk and passed out in my arms. The naps we used to take together while I was on maternity leave. I feel so incredible lucky and blessed to have him in my life.

I remember he used to make this sheep sound when he was a newborn. DH and I thought it was hilarious. He used to purse his lips all the time, then we figured out he did it when he was peeing. He used to put one arm up and we called him superbaby when he did it.

More recent memories. He absolutely loves to play hide and seek and chase. Before we would initiate the game but now he does on his own. He gets this silly grin on his face and starts crawling/cruising away and we just know he wants us to chase him. He's ticklish on his chest and I just love the big belly laugh I get from him when I tickle him there. Now that he's learning to walk he loves to come tumbling into my arms and the look on his face as we cheer him on is priceless! You can tell he's so proud of himself.

He is just overall such a happy, active & curious little boy. I'm looking forward to making many more memories and cry a little that time is moving too fast.

My heart hurts with so much love and happiness.

@TurtleDoves: @Running Elley: You guys are making me tear up. I love hearing about your memories.

Well now thinking about memories has made me emotional again!! At nights before bedtime we always go outside and he used to sit with me on a blanket and point out all of the birdies when they fly by. Now he runs all over the place and explores the whole backyard. Since he was still tiny I'd tell him to say good morning to the front yard when we open the kitchen blinds in the mornings and now he points toward the kitchen window and waves as soon as we go into the kitchen.

Or how he used to open and close his hands on any surface to feel it. When we would put him to bed and give him his bottle he'd open and close his hand on my side just so that he could still feel that we were there.

Wah!!

I am dealing a lot better with it as it's getting closer. Last month I was a freak show mess. Complete craziness. I cried every day about how he's never going to be this little and the next thing I know he'll be going off to college, blah blah blah. Now I'm getting excited for him. I LOVE having a toddler. He's such an independent little person and he's so happy. I love him SO much and this past year has been such a whirlwind.

His birthday party (pretty big) is this Saturday and his actual birthday is next Tuesday (a week from today- eek!). We're going to do a special breakfast on his actual birthday and I just want to make the whole day exciting :)

My sweet baby....he's brought me so much joy. I can't remember life before him. I still remember how I held him all night, that first night and just felt so, so grateful.
My favorite memories? So many little things, like the way he smiles and gets so excited when I get him out of bed in the mornings, or how he sings and babbles from his car seat while I drive, or how he plays "dentist" with us and how he laughs when we tickle his belly. Ahhh....I am so emotional this month. I just am so grateful for him and I pray we are never, ever separated.

@beachbee: Oh I love watching DS figure things out. It's so fun to watch the wheels turning in his mind and the looks of such joy when he figures things out. And seriously, the first birthday party is more for us surviving the first year of parenthood. lol

@hilsy85: I'm super excited for the next phase. It just keeps getting better and better! A small get together sounds really nice. And I love the "birthday breakfast" tradition idea. I was thinking of doing the same thing. And serve pancakes with sprinkles in them!

WAHHHH :'( I am really sad that LO is almost 1!!! I keep thinking that he'll never be this little again...but at the same time, I am so freakin' excited for him to start talking and running around and become a little person.

We are just doing something small at home on his bday--our parents, my sister and her fam. Not sure about birthday traditions...I am making his cake this year, and would love to do that every year, but don't know if that will happen. I wish DH could take the day off work--then we could start a tradition of doing something fun as a family. But maybe I'll start a "birthday breakfast" tradition-something yummy and special!

Fave memories: hearing him laugh for the first time, hearing his first word, seeing DH hold him for the first time, holding him before he goes to sleep every night (this is maybe my favorite time of day).

@mrskc: well said! I share so many of those same feelings :)

I'm in complete denial :) I have loved every moment of watching LO meet new milestones and make new discoveries. I can sit for 20 minutes and just look at her face while she's figuring out that a shape goes into a hole or stacking her rings on the post. Se has such concentration and makes the cutest serious face when she's working in something :) I cannot believe my little baby has turned into this walking, babbling, smart, grown up little girl! So while it makes me very sad that we are here already, I know there is a lot more yet to come and I'm looking forward to what this next year brings.

For her birthday we are having a rather large party with family and friends to celebrate the fact that were all still standing a year later! :)

cue tears. *sniff sniff* I cannot believe how fast his year has gone by. I can't even remember what life was like with out my son.

It feels like just yesterday we were all having our babies & in the newborn trenches. And yet that all feels like it was an eternity ago. Like a whole other life.

It has been absolutely amazing watching my son grow over the past year. And I never knew my heart could hold so much love. I will forever be a changed woman because I'm a mom now.

So how are you ladies dealing? sad? happy? in denial?

what are your birthday plans? What birthday traditions will you start this year?

What are some of your favorite memories over the past year?
