Contractions started on the Tuesday, midwife broke my waters on the Saturday & while pushing and under the influence of ethonox and sleep deprivation, I remember talking to my husband about how to cut up veal. Wtf?

I peed on DH.
My catheter came out just before surgery (emergency c-section.) DH was holding my hand telling me everything would be OK and all of a sudden his shirt was soaking wet.
We had to delay the surgery for a couple minutes because he was no longer sterile enough to come in the OR.

@MrsTiz: That really sucks they wouldn't let you drink! I remember while pushing I was SOOOOO thirsty! I gulped whole glasses of water between pushes and kept asking for more.

I labored at home throughout the night and ended up getting to the hospital crowning. LO was born 15 minutes after we pulled in. It went so fast, all I could say after he came out was "Holy Sh**, Holy Sh**." Not exactly my most eloquent moment ha!

Induction was to start at around midnight. I sent my husband home to sleep and handled the first few hours of labor on my own. I called him around five.

I was in the hospital for 48 hours for my induction, so I did many funny things. My favorite is this: I had been pushing for about 45 minutes and knew baby was nearly here. The room was full of people - doctor, midwife, two nurses, observing intern and 4 nicu staff (meconium in fluid) plus my husband. When the doctor announced that she was here, my response was "Kick ass!". Really loud. With a fist pump. :silly: There was much giggling...

I just remember being so thirsty that I was about to have a panic attack because I was SO thirsty. I got to the hospital around lunch time and had been busy at work the morning of, so I hadn't had any breakfast or even anything to drink since about 5pm the night before. I was in labor for over 24 hours and wasn't allowed anything at all to eat or drink the whole time.

I asked the midwife if I had pooped while I was in the middle of pushing.

While pushing I threw up. A lot. The first explosion of puke caught me off gaurd and I put my hand to my mouth to stop it I guess, but all that did was direct it upwards so I puked in my own eyes and hair. Sweet

1. Played on Facebook
2. Surfed the tv
3. Filled out the after birth paperwork.

With my second:
1. Tried getting in a fight with SO (stadol whacked me out) lol
2. Cried out of boredom
3. Kept walking and going to the bathroom without permission. Lol
4. Bounced on the birthing ball instead of rocking my hips! Lol. (My step mom even has a recording of this)

38 hour labor here.....

I remember throwing my pillows at DH in the middle of the night because he was asleep and I needed the laptop charger or a book. I was on multiple IV"s and couldn't reach them myself.

They gave me morphine before the epidural, so while my family was watching Night at the Museum, I was zoning in and out. I'd open my eyes, make an observation about the movie, drink some water, and go off to la-la land again.

I wasn't allowed out of bed except to go to the bathroom so whenever I wanted up I would drink 1/2 a pitcher of water.

After the pitocin, they stopped all food/drinks except ice, so I kept letting it melt and drinking the water.

When the Foley catheter fell out, I was in the bathroom and had to have DH go grab the nurse. It was the first time he'd even seen me sitting on the toilet in the bathroom.

Dh said that nothing I did was odd, points for him. :)

ETA - I just realized that three of these have to do with water. I guess I was really thirsty.

I pushed for 2 1/2 hours and in between pushes would fall asleep for these mini 3 minute naps. Funny thing was I dreamt these incredibly intense dreams - about the most banal stuff in the world. Seriously, I had these dreams -- so real I can remember them 3 years later -- about going to Macy's with my mom or picking up some stuff at Target. Weird.

@travellingbee: @wonderstruck: My midwives always make a simple breakfast for clients (if babies are born in the morning), and they said that 100% of the time, the mama is always exclaiming: "These are the best eggs!" or "This OJ is the best I've ever had!". It's all the hormones. And, yeah, the breakfast they made for me was so basic, but soooo good!

In the beginning, at home, we watched Life of Pi. After that I was in excruciating pain so all I did was focus on surviving until the epidural 6 hours later. After the epidural I tried to sleep but wasn't comfortable so I just stared at the monitor while everyone else slept (it was wee hours). During pushing though all I could think about was apple juice. And after they took him to weigh him and clean him off, that was the first thing I asked for. About 10 times. That apple juice was ah-mazing!

I was a weirdo! I was in the hospital for a long time due to induction as well. I asked a billion questions first of all. Told a nurse I loved her. After delivery I yelled to my mom "I am sorrryyy" haha. Kept asking nurses if I pooped during pushing. Kept yelling at DH to feed me ice cubes. I'm sure there are more!

My labor sounds a little silly but I still wish I'd done more and waited to go to the hospital. I was in labor for 40 hours.

-cleaned/organized/vacuumed my car
-went for a 2 mile walk
-got dinner at a sports bar halfway through the walk. Was having contractions every 3-4 minutes at that point, I'm sure the people around us were horrified if they were watching at all.
-hung out in a friend's apartment while DH took a nap right before leaving for the hospital
-once we got to the hospital we climbed up and down 7 flights of stairs at least a dozen times to try to get things moving.

I'm about 3.5 weeks away from round 2 and I'm really hoping I won't have time to repeat all this!

My labor was so fast that I seriously felt like I wasn't even there for it!

But, during my first few contractions, I was standing in our mirror, and just kept asking my husband if he thought I looked like Zooey Deschanel. "Yeah babe! Just like her!", ha.

Oh, and I said, "I feel like my butt is going to explode!" like 50 times. <- Actually, I said "butthole", but I was too embarrassed to type that at first!

After I got the epidural, I felt great so we put the football game on and watched for awhile, then I read a book (one of the True Blood/Sookie Stackhouse series). I remember the nurse laughing when she saw me with the kindle. She said most people don't read during labor.

After every push (I pushed for 2 hours, so there were a lot of them), I asked my husband for a sip of water and said thank you every time. It didn't seem weird at the time, but looking back and considering how long I pushed, that was a lot of thank yous! He loves to tell this to everyone and make fun of how I was "the most polite woman in labor ever!"
