Any family you can call who doesn't usually provide child care? They might be more understanding since you're not feeling well.

Lots of time icing it, and plenty of Advil- it will help the pain and the inflammation. Also when you rest make sure it's in a good position- for me that is often laying on my back on the floor with my lower legs up on the couch seat so hips and knees are at 90 angles. Can you take muscle relaxers? They don't usually help me that much but any little bit helps.

As for the stuff you have to do today, obviously you still have to take care of the baby, but skip the grocery shopping and other chores. Order in if you don't have food, and if you have the option, can you have groceries delivered?

I've had this happen a number of times but not since having a baby. I don't know what I would do because it's truly debilitating. I hope it resolves quickly.

@macintosh: I had terrible back pain after a long plane ride earlier this year... I took a bunch of Advil for a while and it really helped relax my muscles and allow the back to heal!!

This stinks. Last night I started having back spasms right before I got in bed. Resting did not help, and it's been spasming all morning. This sure makes all the things I need to do today difficult - picking up my baby, grocery shopping, walking, bending over :bummed:

What do you do when you're solo parenting (which is basically me all the time) and something like this happens?
