I definitely don't mind the age, gender, name questions. It was the breast feeding and delivery questions that were a little odd.

He was a preemie and I think him only being 6 pounds at a month old really threw people for a loop. One woman told me I shouldn't have him out so soon, I told her he was a month old and she was really surprised by that.

I love it when people ask me those questions since I like to hear other people's experiences. If it weren't for the Bee I wouldn't have known bfing could be so hard because I've never heard anyone talk about it in real life.

Some of those are just general curiosity questions, but some of those questions are rather personal (e.g. did you deliver naturally, and are you breastfeeding). Some people have no tact.

I think it's just people trying to make conversation and offer advice. Honestly, it bothered me a lot at first, but now, I welcome people asking questions!

I think people are thrown off by such a small baby! I mean, it's a little person, fresh from the other side! What to say? So I guess I try to cut them some slack :)

Congrats

I've heard that people will ask the gender even if you have LO dressed in obviously gender specific clothes like a pink frilly dress with a bow headband. This is so strange to me!

I am dreading being asked about the labor and delivery and breastfeeding after the fact. Why do people think these are acceptable topics to ask a stranger or acquaintance??

Awe...I think it's sweet that people are showing an interest. The "is he a preemie" is an odd question, but I got all of the others from people. I feel as if they're just trying to make conversation with you. I've definitely been guilty of asking some of these questions when I see a newborn...especially now that I have LO.

Random people ask you if you breastfeed? Geez. And "Was he a preemie?" ????? Weird.

If a stranger asked me if I breastfeed, I might be tempted to start whipping it out and say "Yeah, wanna see?"

Yeah still do at 8 months! Especially since now she can sit in shopping carts and just generally be more out in the world. I don't mind though! We've met babies the same age as her and people who have grandkids the same age, and lots of just curious people. Comes with the territory, enjoy showing off your little guy!

Wow. I'd expect some of them from, like, every person you see-- how old, what's his name, maybe boy or girl (I would try not to ask and just ask another question and hope the answer came back with a he or she!), MAYBE where did you deliver, from like, a pregnant lady.

But the rest? Squarely in the none of your business category. Or at least, close friend category. Oh well, I guess overly personal questions are better than dirty looks and sneers from people who don't like babies?

Yesterday was really the first time we'd had LO out and about (he's a month old) and I was shocked by the sheer volume of questions we got.

Is it a boy or girl?
How old is he?
How much does he weigh?
How much did he weigh when he was born?
Was he a preemie?
Where did you deliver?
Are you breast feeding?
Is he a good eater?
Does he sleep?
Did you have him naturally?

And on and on! It was crazy. Most of the questions were from waitresses at the restaurant. I was a bit shocked when multiple strangers asked if I was breast feeding. I'd never ask someone that!

For the most part though, people were just excited to see a baby and were super nice.

Do you get a lot of questions when you're out with LO?
