Here is my question about this. Whenever I use oil (coconut oil for example) to remove makeup or moisturize or whatever, the next day I have issues with makeup staying in place, most noticeably mascara. Does anyone else have this issue?

I tried a combo of castor, grapeseed and tea tree last year and I didn't see any noticeable difference, but honestly, that's okay with me, because my skin is decently normal to begin with.

I have to find some food grade grapeseed oil, I haven't had a chance to get to Whole Foods.

I use castor oil + jojoba oil. I really like it. It makes my skin so smooth and removes all my makeup.

I need to get back into it, but I used castor, tea tree and grapeseed oil. My skin was soft and not flaky/dry, and it definitely helped with the massive breakouts I got. Plus I find steaming my face with a washcloth super relaxing.

@Leialou: People have different "mixtures", but you massage it into your face for a minute or so, then place a super warm, damp wash cloth over your face to let it steam, then gently wipe off excess.

At least that's what I think it is!

I use straight jojoba oil, and, weirdly enough, my face feels a bit tight afterwards...like I used a mask or something.

What exactly is oil cleansing? Do you just wash your face with oil instead of soap?

@heartonastring: Does the castor oil dry out your skin? It seems like people are 80% "it's fantastic" and 20% "it made my skin worse than before". I don't usually moisturize (see: breakout like crazy), so I think it seems somewhat better from that standpoint.

I use OCM. My skin went crazy when I was pregnant and I'm still waiting for it to totally settle down :/ It goes in spurts.

But OCM definitely seems to help and I mostly just like how well it removes makeup while not using any chemicals.

My blend is castor oil, jojoba and a few drops to tea tree oil.

@Espion: I don't know anything about oil cleansing, but my face is such a mess right now. Break out city :( I never even got this many blemishes when I was in high school.

For those of you who do this, what sort of benefits do you see? How long did it take to see any benefit?

I've been using straight jojoba oil, and it seems like everything is 'so far, so good', but I'm not sure what sort of change I'm looking for. (I break out at the drop of a hat. Sad that the thing I was most looking forward to in "growing up" was better skin, because I believed that you could magically grow out of having rotten skin!)
