My LO has been sleeping through the night since about 3 months. She was consistently in the 25% for weight but the 90th for height and out pedi didn't have any concerns. Aside from an occasional cold (attends daycare) and the need for tubes in her ears she is very healthy.

My lo has slept 12 hour nights since 2 1/2 months old. Shes always been a very healthy weight, in the 90-95th percentile, so shes obviously not lacking for food. Before ie time change bath time was at 7, now its at 8.

We sleep trained Wagon Jr. at 4 months because he was pretty close to sleeping thru the night and the pedi gave us the OK because he was doing fine weight wise (90th percentile! haha). So he said Wagon Jr. didn't nutritionally need the night feeding anymore. He's slept thru the night ever since.

Like @Andrea my LO has been sleeping through the night since 2 months - started at 10 hours and then by 2.5 months she started sleeping 12 hours. She is almost 6 months now and goes to bed between 6:30 and 7:00 and wakes up around 7:00. My pediatrician says let her sleep as much as she wants at this age. She nurses 5 times during the day and was 15 pounds at her 4 month check up.

I would continue doing what you are doing and as long as your LO doesn't seem to appear hungry or sick. Some babies just sleep more, I wouldn't wake them up, that seems cruel to me!

@Tisty1982: it seems like your LO is doing great so don't worry about what other people are saying (easier said than done, i know). as for going down too early?? my two year old still sleeps at 6:30 pm and wakes up between 6:30 am - 7 am!! i am sure lots of people think she goes down way too early but she falls asleep without a peep every night so why would i mess with it? don't worry, just do what you feel is best! :-D

@Andrea: the plan is to start her with cereal sometime bwt 5 1/2 and 6 months.

I didn't want to wake her either, but after seeing the nurses face when I told her how long she sleeps I felt like maybe we were doing something wrong. I called my sister for re-assurance then she said she always thought we were putting her down too early as well!

Being a parent is HARD!!!

Let her sleep! 6 ounces in a week sounds good to me as well. I would think you might still want to pump around 10 or 11 to have extra milk because going 12 hours without pumping or nursing may hurt your supply.

What?! I don't know much about this, but I don't think I would ever tempt fate by purposefully waking a baby who happily sleeps through the night. Unless there is something really wrong with her health, there is no way I would wake her to eat more. Maybe you can squeeze a little more food into her pre-bedtime routine instead?

i would let her sleep also and just try to fill her up in the daytime. a good sleeping baby is too precious to mess with!

6 oz in the past week is great! if she keeps that up, that sounds like she is gaining weight well.

@Tisty1982: it sounds like she is getting plenty to eat, in my opinion. and are you going to start solids at six months? personally, i would continue letting your DD sleep. :-D

@Andrea: she eats 5-6 times a day right now. We give her an additonal 2oz from a bottle after I nurse her after every feeding except the first one in the morning because we think she is getting more that feeding anyway. We estimate she's getting 7 oz in the morning based on what I pump in the morning on the days I can't nurse. The other feedings we're guessing 4 oz + the 2oz from a bottle. I go to a nursing support group which can weigh her to see how much she gets from me.

LO was sleeping 11-12 hours at 2 months so I think it is fine if weight gain is on track. Are you able to feed her more during the day instead of waking her up?

If your Lo sleeps through the night I would just let her. Mine was sleeping through the night at that age! I would just feed her more during the day if she needs to gain more weight.

My LO will be 5 months next week. We thought we were lucky because she sleeps through the night, but a few people say she is sleeping too long. She goes down at 8 everynight and gets up bwt 7-7:30 with no feedings in bwt. During the day she will take 2 naps though they are usually about 45min-1hr. Occasionally she'll sleep longer but not very often.

At her 4 month checkup her doctor said she needs to gain more weight (she was 11lb 13oz) and wants us to give her an additional 2 oz from a bottle after I nurse her (I pump so I've been able to have the bottle be my milk as well). She gained 6 oz this week which is what the dr. wants but a nurse told me she's sleeping too much at night and wants us to wake her up at 10:30 to feed her.

I mentioned this to my sister and she also thought we were putting her to bed too early. She thought it should be closer to 10. But LO goes to bed great without fussing so are we ok putting her down at 8? So confused!!
