We don't have this issue yet, but my friend just got one of these lamp timers and had it hooked up to a normal lamp. Her kid can get out of bed when the lamp turns on in the morning.

@MrsRoo: Thank you for that tip - I'll have to keep it out of reach, because my LO would totally do that.

We have the OK to Wake. She gets the point but DGAF. :silly:

ETA: she follows it for nap/quiet time, but in the morning she thinks if the sun is up, she should be.

We have the Gro clock. It works (we also have a gate on his door) but almost every weekend day we're awakened at 6am by a toddler bellowing "DADDY THE SUN IS AWAKE!" I wish it had an option to set a later clock on weekends.

We have the Ok to Wake clock. It works very well for us, my 3 yo will not leave the room until it lights up (she will sit in bed and call for us or cry though, it's not magic). It has the option of an alarm but you can turn it off so it just silently lights up at the end of nap time or at 7 am. I have it where she can't reach it to mess with the buttons. It's been a huge help for us!

We have the okay to wake clock and it worked great when we enforced it. Then we moved and had another LO and my 3 year old is now a regular in my bed....
But that's totally our fault. When we first got it she was actually pretty good about staying in bed until it turned green. Our problem was getting up too early in the mornings. I'd suggest not letting your LO see you set the alarm. One time DD saw me open the back flap and then she decided she wanted to push the buttons inside and definitely turned on a random, 430 am alarm sound.

@littlejoy: we don't have anything else on but the color change option. She can press a button and it will tell the time but she only does that when she is supposed to be going to bed.

@Smurfette: Does the clock make any weird noises? I assume if it does make noise, you have the option of turning it off. My worst nightmare would be a rogue alarm at 2:00 am. ;) It's easy to program?

(I see that it talks ... you can turn that off?)

We have this one. It works 90% of the time. The other 10% is because she has a couple times where she just ignores the clock and would come out earlier and we didn't make her go back in her room. But she knows she stays in her room till her clock turns green.

Does anyone have experience with an Ok to Wake type clock?

(a clock that changes color to indicate that it's ok for your kiddo to get out of bed)

We are considering this for our almost 3 year old. She's in a "big kid" bed, but will not stop trying to get out of her room multiple times a night. We have a door monkey lock (to keep her safely in her room), but I think the clock would be awesome. I'd love to hear your experiences.

Links to ones you love as a bonus?
