I thought you were given good advice. Here is my cheapie chart the month I conceived. My surge started on the CD 19. I tested every other day till CD 19 then went to twice a day looking for my surge. I had really wonky cycles. 32-46 days. I hope this helps. :)

@sarahnicole218: so if I've had success with getting smileys with FMU, I should just stick to that? It also line up with when FF says my O date is....although I guess the OPKs could be throwing FF off?

@hilsy85: My opinion on CB's recommendation to use FMU is just to get the sample from the longest wait between bathroom breaks. However, as my suspected ovulation day got closer, I used them twice a day! Now, since using the CB Advanced, both of my solid smileys have come in the morning from FMU. But on days when I got flashing smileys with FMU, I also got flashing smileys in the afternoon when I tested a second time. Not everyone gets their surge in the afternoon, but I would just test twice a day as to not miss it.

I definitely preferred the cheap Wondfos - well, I guess I can't say I preferred them since I never tried CBE, but they are SO MUCH cheaper and I thought they worked perfectly fine, so I was never tempted to go for the expensive option. The Wondfos really are quite simple with a little bit of getting used to.

Seems like a lot prefer the Clear Blue (and I can't argue with an obvious + in the form of a smiley face - not having to interpret lines is a win for me).

I'll have to pick some up in the next couple days so I don't miss this month.

Thanks ladies!

As someone who has PCOS, the Clearblue were the ones clear enough for me. I used Wondfos (cheapies) for a long time, but there was a lot of confusion with if I had a positive or not. The downfall with the Clearblue Advanced (plus having PCOS I think), is that I get A LOT of flashing smileys, or at least I have this month on Clomid, before I finally get my solid smiley (positive). So I think the next time I purchase, I will go with the Clearblue Original again so there is no false hope of an impending ovulation. :)

Good luck to you! :goodluck:

@dolphin: I believe we (had to check FF)...
BD CD 12 when the cheapie was :bfp: but digi :bfn:
BD CD 13 both :bfp:
No BD CD 14 (likely ovulation) both still :bfp:
BD CD 15 (probably unnecessary) both :bfn:

So, I would recommend BD ED for three days once you get the positive digi. I got a BFP taking ovulation day off, but I think it would be more effective to BD the day before. I tend to have a long surge, so this worked for me

Hope this helps!

@hellobeeboston: @simplyfelicity: do you ladies BD just the two days you get the :) ? Or the days after the :) too? Last month was the first time I used the Clear Blue. We BD the two days I got :) and then again a few days after. Got pregnant but had an early loss. Trying again this month but I want to make sure we BD on all the best days!

@simplyfelicity: sorry for your loss! :( I had a miscarriage and then a chemical pregnancy right after that. It sucks!!! Good luck to you and I hope we both get our sticky babes soon!

@dolphin: @hellobeeboston: I completely agree!

I absolutely prefer the original (not the advanced) Clear Blue Easy Digital OPKS. First month ttc, I used the dollar store cheapies and, while they work, they are hard to read and it stressed me out trying to figure out when it was positive. I got pregnant but that ended in a very early loss. Next, I tried the CBE digi OPKS and found them so much user friendly and my stress wad so much lower. I got 20 for 35 bucks (posted the link below) and only ended up using 3 and got pregnant (which ended in a loss at 11 weeks.) I was hoping I wouldn't need the extra 17 for a looooong time, but I will probably end up using them in October again. Even though they are kind of expensive, it was awesome to not have to decipher lines and they can give you a good idea of your cycle if you want to use wandfos etc in the future.

A couple of tips (sorry if you have heard them! )
-- use them in the afternoon, that's when you get your surge. If you get your first positive with fmu, chances are, that is leftover surge from the day before
-- I liked to use a cheapie and, if it looked positive or close, I confirmed with the digi
-- the box always says you need to not pee for x amount of hours, I just limited fluids and tried to hold for 2-3 hours with no problems

The clearblue have been best for me. The other ones are confusing and not as clear! Unfortunately the clearblue's are pricey.

I've only used internet cheapies - Wondfo, Babi, etc. You can get them on eBay or Amazon. They take a little bit to understand but once you do, you're good! There's usually some confusion as to "is this line dark enough or no" when people first start. And that's what all of us on HB are here to help with :)

I used cheap Target brand and it worked fine for me! It was pretty obvious when it got the darkest aka O time. I found that using OPKs helped me so much b/c my cycles were crazy after getting off the pill, plus my temps weren't always consistent so it was reassuring to catch O time w/ the OPKs.

I'm thinking about trying to incorporate OPKs alongside my temperature charting this month. We're just starting cycle 4 (I'm CD3 now) and I want to try to make sure we've got the best timing and the most information possible so that hopefully this can be our month.

I don't know a ton about using OPKs but I know a lot of people around here use them. Does anyone have any recommendations for specific brands that seem to be better than others? Or tips for using them?
