@Mrs. Carrot: @periwinklebee: We’ve actually started a Zantac wean and so far it’s made no difference in his happiness or the amount of spitup so I think we’re headed towards being off the meds. But I’m glad to hear that it’s not totally unheard of for him to still be spitting up! Thank you!

My eight month old had horrible reflux when he was younger, and still spits up some daily, though we did see an improvement at 6 months. It doesn't bother him the way it used to, so we took him off reflux meds around then.

@Jennibenni: My daughter spit up until just past her first birthday. Because it never bothered her, we actually took her off reflux meds around 5 months, but she was in bibs until her first birthday, pretty much. Keep on keeping an eye out for it, but as they transition more to solids, it'll likely slow down and go away, though I completely understand how aggravating it is. I wanted to literally burn all the bibs once she was finally done with them lol

My MIL says my husband spit up until he was over a year. Always a happy spitter but she still teases him about it.

@peaches1038: They’ve increased it lots of times, and he isn’t in pain or seemingly bothered by the spitting up so his doctor doesn’t feel like we need to try a PPI or anything. I just have never known any babies who still spit up at this age.

Have they increased his Zantac dosage? It is extremely weight dependent. Also, how many times per day is he getting it? We used MARCI dosing and it was 3x/day
Refluxrebels.com was a very helpful resource for us. DS was on zantac until he was almost 2!

Both of mine were “happy spitters”. I thought my first was bad, but my second was ridiculous and I couldn’t get rid of using a burp cloth until he turned 1. At 12.5 months was the last time there was spit up. It was pretty much exclusively from breastfeeding and it was a lot every time. Now there are still random periods of very small amounts of spit up after having eaten solids, I think due to it not being chewed up properly? Sometimes what comes out is chewed though so it’s weird.

All of my kids spit up a TON and I think they probably continued up to their first birthdays. My youngest is 15 months and he still spits up a little sometimes if he has a lot of liquid. It's super annoying but none of them have ever had pain with it. Just "happy spitters"!

Yes. They found that my DD had both GERD and a hernia which affected her reflux. It may be something worth looking into. Best of luck. :goodluck:

My 10 month old still spits up multiple times a day. He’s been on Zantac for reflux since six weeks old. At his 9 month checkup his pediatrician said it was a little unusual but he wouldn’t worry until 12 months. But it definitely hasn’t started tapering off in the last month.

Did anyone else’s baby still spit up a lot as they got close to one? When did it stop?
