our little guy got a fever just an hour before our plane was about to depart. we had to postpone our trip after checking in. i was a disaster and felt so guilty and bad for him. He had cold symptoms all day and we were just looking forward to seeing my parents and family that I just kept on thinking it was going to be ok. He was in such a happy and cute mood but was really snotty all day and then I kept on checking his temperature and it was over 101. I just couldnt do that to him. He ended up having an ear infection. when I had called the doctor earlier they said it was probably just a cold and my husband said it was just a cold...im glad i took the thermometer to the airport with me. I hate that helpless feeling of knowing that they dont feel good.

I hope Olive feels better soon!

@Mrs. Jacks: i have to get a new one. charlie was playing with it and a piece is missing. luckily i bought a saline drops kit that came with a nasal aspirator. i was surprised that it actually worked pretty well!

@Mrs. Jacks: thanks! she does have cold symptoms - a little sneezing/coughing/wheezing this morning. i had to go pick up charlie from daycare in the evening, and she was outside for 20 min in the cold because he took forever walking home!

once we got home, she felt warm and i felt so bad for taking her out, but i had no choice. called the doc and she thinks it's a cold too. i got a lot of boogers out of her nose after i put in some saline drops and used an aspirator. we gave her some tylenol so hopefully she feels better soon!

I would give tylenOl and see if that brings it down. If it doesn't respond to Tylenol then I would worry

If she has cold symptoms, they'll be more likely to watch and wait, but your doc wants to know about this, I promise :)

They often rule out for sepsis. Please call just in case. Babies localize infection so poorly that we are very conservative with them.

Oh no!! LO had a slight temperature after her second set of shots. Dr. told us to keep an eye on her and I also put a cool compress on her head.
Hope she feels better soon!

Olive has a rectal temp of 101.5. She's sleepier than normal, but is still feeding ok and having wet/poopy diapers, and is smiling and cooing. I haven't given her any tylenol yet.

The AAP says to call the doctor when babies 3-6 months have a fever higher than 101. I have a feeling he'll just tell us to keep an eye on her.

Did your young infant ever have a fever? What did you do? I'm worried about my poor Olive!
