@mrs.bee: Yeah, they said it was HARD at first because LO kept crying and was so hungry. But eventually she just drank out of it and was totally fine after that first initial crying bout. My friend actually had her nanny do it because she couldn't handle the crying. It made her too sad.

Oh no! The biggest things that help us when this happens is to adjust her position (either sit up more or lay down in more of a breastfeeding position) and to adjust the temperature of the bottle.

Baby hasn't arrived yet so I don't have any real first hand experience but with my friend's baby, he started to reject the bottle as well. They ended up changing the nipple and said he does much better with the bottle now.

Same happened to me around month 2.5. We never overcame it. Lo only takes boob and she's 9 months old! Trying to introduce her to the sippy cup now. So far not happening though. -.-

@Mrs. Bee: We tried the MimiJumi, Breastflow, etc and finally got my son to take Born Free. He started fusing at daycare and not drinking his bottles well so i tried MAM on the suggestion of several other moms and he drank from it like a champ and continued to do so. Maybe she just decided the nipple on the bottles you are using is no longer similar enough to you. Just a thought.

One of my girlfriends had the same problem. Her daughter would REFUSE to drink out of her bottle after a few days of only boob. Eventually they just kind of forced her to. They basically just waited until she was really hungry and then fed her out of the bottle and it was fine. She drank out of it after that.

I'm not in the room, and I'm going to try different bottles. I just didn't think it would be a problem since she's been taking bottles fine until now. On the one hand it's nice to be wanted, but on the other... she has to be able to take a bottle or I won't get anything done!

Are you present every time? Is Mr. Bee or someone else offering the bottle or are you? Have you tried different bottles?

I know for some babies they wouldn't take a bottle if mom was anywhere close. Also, different bottles work better for different babies. My son did best on MAM, did okay on Born Free, and refused several other types.

Olive usually gets bottles of pumped milk in the daytime, but over the past 5 days she's been exclusively breastfed. She just threw the biggest fit when we tried to feed her a bottle right now, and only wanted boob!

She previously didn't mind the bottle at all, so I thought she'd be fine not having them for a couple of days. Has this happened to you? How did you overcome it?
