Oh, girl - it's a phase!! I hope! Because E is 11 months and fighting naps hard, just like this. She will CIO for an hour and will not go to sleep at all even though she is tired. I have tried singing, nursing, rocking. I put her in the stroller and took a walk just so she would sleep. Argh. Deep breaths though, it will pass soon!

we are sort of going through this too. his screaming is horrible and i can't bear to hear it! it's not a normal cry. i'm thinking he may be going through a little separation anxiety because as soon as i pick him up he calms down and if i rock him he knocks right back out. it's just impossible to put him in his crib.

do you think it could be that?

whatever it is, i'm sure it's a phase. but know you're not alone! i've nearly lost my mind several times because of this sleep regression!

Definitely a phase. LO did this and I almost wanted to just run away. In fact, I flew to my parents with LO just so I could have help during the day to get through it. There are a lot of things going on developmentally at this age. Not all of it is physical, so it's hard to pinpoint the cause. I promise, though, he will start sleeping again.

Definitely a phase. I promise it won't last forever! P has been going back & forth on her napping. TBH if she just isn't going down we get back up for a little while and try again in about 30 minutes... that usually helps tremendously & she'll easily nurse to sleep. Our new sidecar setup still has her very excited about all her explore space so any bedding down as been a "fight".

Anytime we have stressful sleep phases I resort to doing whatever I have to for us to all get sleep (or more sleep than we were doing what we were doing) and then resume our normal sleep patterns when the phase passes.

Hope you can get some rest soon!

@travelgirl1: I tried! He'll be asleep and I'll even be able to get him down into the crib still asleep and stand with my hand on his chest and slowly move away but the second I've taken a step away from the crib he wakes up and freaks out! I tried it in our bed, too...thinking maybe if I could get him down for a nap there I could nap too...but he won't nap in our bed at all! Gah!

I can probably reassure you that it's a phase. LO did the same thing and it lasted for maybe 1-2 weeks. Every nap was a complete battle. I had to warn people that it was going to be ugly when LO goes down. We just let her CIO each time and it eventually stopped. It's tough though :(

Good lord, I bet you're shattered! Do you ever nurse down at all? I know it might be seen as moving backwards but it might get you a bit of sleep!

I don't know what's going on, but I'm thisclose to losing it. LO has decided to stop sleeping. He went from waking up once, maybe twice a night (in 14 hours) to being up every.hour. It's sucked, and I'm exhausted but I've managed because he's still napped well....we've been averaging 1-1.5 hours, which is huge for my used to be 30 minute napper.

But today. Oh good lord today. He's fought every.single.nap. Hard. Standing up, screaming--wailing--at the top of his lungs every time I leave the room. He's now been up for 5 hours, when 2, sometimes 3, is his normal limit. I've been trying to get him down for a last nap for almost 2 hours. He's exhausted, I can see it in his eyes, and he's giving me huge sleep cues.

But he will.not.sleep.

I've tried every trick I know. Dancing, rocking, nursing, putting a hand on his chest and shhing and/or singing...he'll be asleep or nearly asleep and the second I turn away he's standing up screaming at me in an unearthly tone. And it doesn't let up. Sometimes he'd cry for a minute or two before a nap but would go almost right down. Now...well, 10 minutes is the very longest I can listen to this before going back in. And as soon as I go in he smiles at me. But if I leave it's an unearthly wail. I'd almost be willing to throw him in the Ergo but he won't sleep in it.

I feel like I haven't slept in weeks, and I've barely seen my husband...he got called in on Saturday and didn't get off until 1am last night...I'm so exhausted and am thisclose to screaming.

He's almost 9 months. Please, please, please tell me this is a phase that will pass, soon.
