Yes search for a lice clinic - it's like a lice treatment salon. It's always worth it to have that info at the ready! I keep a little metal lice comb at home to check for nits when we get a notice.

Maybe I panicked. I can't see anything in their hair except some product flakes. But I'll have my husband check tonight too

Is anyone else afraid to even walk into those live treatment places though? I mean unless you know your kid already has lice. 😳

I absolutely recommend going somewhere to deal with it. We have a local place called Royal Treatment. They will do headchecks for a small fee ($10?) And they will treat naturally, which is really just tons of combing until all of the nits are gone with timed rechecks. We did the overcounter thing first and it wasn't successful for us as our daughter has long thick hair.

They checked DH for free when they treated my daughter. I went in for a check the next day, which took about 15 minutes and I think I paid $10. It was totally worth the expense.

Additionally, we washed all bedding in HOT water and dried on HOT. Stuffed animals were suffocated (in a bag and put in the freezer) or washed like the bedding. The carpet was vacuumed repeatedly.

Oh yes, your head will itch (even if you don't have it)!! :)

We got a similar notice from a friend. I looked on YouTube how to do a check, and checked my LO and DH. All were clear.

We have a local place (Lice to Know You) that does a natural treatmeant, but I'd probably try an at-home solution first. The worst part is having to wash EVERYTHING your kid has touched. :( Thankfully, we've avoided it so far - I think because LO's hair is still very fine.

@Anagram: Look for little white eggs that STICK. Dandruff moves when you touch it, knits can really stick on there. And a good place to start looking, if your daughter wears her hair up in a ponytail, is right under it. Good luck!!

@youboots: I read online but then got scared because so many people said the over the counter treatments didn't work. And also, my scalp started itching uncontrollably, haha.

I would just do a search online about how to check for lice my understanding is you go through their whole scalp with a fine tooth comb. We just got a similar notice from school and that's what I did

A friend just group texted to say her son has lice (probably from school) and we all had a play date a couple days ago. What do I look for when I get home? My kids have dark hair.

ALSO...just yesterday, DD said her head was itching. I looked yesterday and didn't see anything (NOT looking for lice, just looking to see if she had a dry scalp), and I didn't notice anything, but I really only glanced.

I'm already convinced we have it, haha. And I'm at work. I fully admit it could be psychosomatic but my head is itching just typing this.

Walk me through this. My kids have dark curly hair. And if DD has it, what do I do???
