@808love: no, it's big and heavy! I used it when my kids were in daycare, because they aren't carrying anything anywhere and it has 3 separate compartments for meals.

For this year, I've been using these for my girls. As reviews say, the gasket comes off easily and it doesn't keep food warm as long as a thermos, BUT it does keep it warm for about 4 hours and it's microwavable, so I still prefer over a steel thermos. https://www.target.com/p/aladdin-174-12oz-mini-lunch-bowl/-/A-15133563

But I have been bookmarking smaller versions for next school year. This one looks interesting. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XKHNGJV/ref=sspa_dk_detail_3?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B06XKHNGJV&pd_rd_wg=XYLOB&pd_rd_r=1M7CJ34NBRK77PRB87MF&pd_rd_w=fQbLm

This one is adorable. https://www.amazon.com/ZOJIRUSHI-thermal-insulation-lunch-JB02-ZD/dp/B00E934W58/ref=sr_1_10?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1519236161&sr=1-10&keywords=zojirushi+bento

@Anagram: I have something like that but it is huge and heavy. Is the one you have made for kids?

@Mrs D: I bought one and returned it immediately. I was spoiled by the zojirushi bento thermos we already had--that one has individual containers that fit inside a thermos, so you can pack the lunch the night before and just microwave it and stick it in the thermos.

Ok scooping a Foogo jar now from amazon...I don’t have to pack lunches until fall-but am just starting to work on ideas and what not now!

The lunchbots I got are smaller than I expected so I think I could do the food jar and maybe a small lunch but in her bag...

Foogo works for us because of short time frame. We just heat it up in another container around 6:45, pop it in and it is ready to be eaten for early lunch at 10:45am. I favor Foogo because they are indestructible and last forever.
I love @looch reviews. So detailed!

We have a foogo jar, but I will be honest, pasta comes out as a gluey mess for me.

I am going to try baked Mac and cheese muffin cups, so they can be eaten room temp and without utensils.

No experience with the omie, but we use this foogo thermos. It keeps my daughter’s soup pretty warm until lunch. You have to pour boiling water in it for 5 mins and then put the hot soup/food inside.

We have it and not only does it weigh a ton empty, the jar portion is tiny. It fits something like 4 chicken nuggets.

The way they style it shows the compartments overflowing, that won’t close without smashing the fruit. And you need at least 1/2 inch clearance on the jar to get the lid in and closed.

Looking for reviews and input on Omie Life bento boxes with the insulated container.

Loving the concept of these. DDs love soup, chili, mac n cheese, etc. So I love that I could heat it in the morning and it could be at least "warm room temp" by lunch time. They are not cheap so I am looking for some real life recommendations before I pull the trigger on a $40 lunch box!
