We've always been once a week launderers for LO's stuff. We didn't have much newborn laundry. She wasn't that messy and we rarely had blowouts. I like the OxiClean gel stick. You can leave it on up to a week before washing.

We use the totally toddler stain remover stick for blowouts. Gets the yuck out of the clothes until we do laundry. I love that stuff.

Yup. We do laundry once a week.

Exception: when she was a newborn. We were doing laundry every few days. Stock up on burp rags and onesies and you'll hopefully be okay for a week.

We did laundry once a week with just one kid. With two it's more often but you can definitely get by with once a week, as long as you have enough stuff on hand!

heavily soiled blowouts and spitups-- I would do the same as @purpletulips: and soak/rinse in cold water and let air dry, then throw into the hamper. That way you don't have to separately store really soiled things. Usually a quick rinse will get stuff out.

We keep baby/kid laundry in a separate laundry basket (no hamper).

We had way more than 7 onesies because we couldn't control his peeing all over the clothes while changing his diaper...!! Once we figured out how to get him to pee before we changed him, we were pretty much one outfit a day unless there was a blowout. And outfit = onesie until we started taking him out regularly.

He basically lived in a onesie, swaddle (we used the miracle blanket), hat, and socks until he was a few months old.

For the crib or bassinet, while they're still really young, line the surface with a receiving blanket or something thin. That way if there's a leak or a spitup, you can just pull it off and throw it in the wash and lay another one down instead of having to change and wash the whole sheet.

I have always only done laundry once a week. For heavily soiled/blow outs I would rinse the items in cold water as best I could let it air dry then stain stick it like crazy. I would wash baby clothes first and then check items I knew to be stained while loading the dryer and if needed keep throwing them in the washer with each additional load until they were clean (or I was out of loads). If it was lightly soiled then I would just stain stick it before putting it into the hamper; I keep all dirty baby laundry in one hamper; baby socks which go into a mesh bag so they don't get lost in the washer/dryer. Both DD and DS went through 1-2 outfits a day when newborn and just 1 a day when they got to be about 3-6m; however we could go through 2-3 bibs a day.

hmmm - we do LO's laundry pretty often, more often than ours due to blowouts mainly, but what I do if i can't do it right away is spray with dreft & let the clothes soak.

we keep blowout dirty clothes separate from regular dirty clothes - and our clothes are also separate.

in regards to outfits - I'd say LO averages 2-3 a day, ha. the BM poops just seem to go straight up his back, and lately with all of the drool we need to change his shirt at least once, but a bib would solve that problem.

We are expecting our first in May and do not have laundry in our building. Is it realistic that we could get by with a once a week overhaul? If so, how would one work with spit up/milky/blowout dirtied items--soak in a solution until laundry day? Some kind of spray? Any insight into what has worked for you would be amazing.

Also, how many baby outfits is a safe number per week assuming we really could only do laundry once a week? Thanks!

ETA: Also, laundry storage suggestions would be appreciated--one regular hamper for things that aren't too dirty and a special bag for really dirty things? A wet bag? Or are those only for CD?
