If LO was awake during a mealtime then s/he ate with us. We did mainly BLW so it was usually just small amounts of table food and although I offered purees / spoon foods I didn't push them and wasn't concerned over the amount eaten.

I started with breakfast but E was never really that into eating. I introduced meals gradually but that often meant warming it, only for it to be refused. Even now, at 2.5, she mostly refuses food at home!

We've ramped up fast. My son has a ridiculous appetite. We did just one 4 oz container a day for a couple weeks and then started sending one for lunch, too. By 6 months, he was eating one at lunch and two at dinner. He's now 7.5 months old and we just started adding a breakfast. So he gets 4 oz at breakfast and lunch and 8 oz at dinner. Plus all his bottles. And he's a skinny dude at 30% still! It's obvious when he wants food-actively reaches and flaps and squeals for it and opens his mouth. So I basically give him as much as he wants. My daughter was MUCH slower to eat. Plus he started crawling and pulling up within the last 2 weeks, so I think the big increase in food makes sense for his activity. Also, if he doesn't eat, he wakes up a BUNCH at night to nurse. When he eats, he wakes up once still.

We did BLW and eased into it. I gave one "meal" (and sometimes none) for a long time. I didn't do 3 "meals" until 9+ months and I never gave snacks. I would nurse if he seemed hungry between meals.

With LO1 I had a plan. We've been winging it with LO2. We started just shy of 6 months (when daycare accidentally fed him) and now at 6.5 months we're up to 3 meals a day, about 1.5 jars/tubs per meal. Hungry kid. He flips out whenever he sees us eating if he doesn't have something too.

We eased into it, but I try to give him solids at every dinner when we started. He took to it so yay!

With DD1 we introduced a meal a month. By right months she was eating three solid meals a day.
DD2 jumped on solids and was up to three meals by day five. Girl packs it in.

We eased into it with DD, purées for about a week or two at dinner time, then BLW. I'm not sure when she started on regular meals as such, but I think by nine months she was having at least breakfast and dinner.

We tried DS at just over five months because I was getting so much guilt tripping about how my milk wouldn't be enough for him at his size. He wasn't at all interested though so we have left it for now, my conscience clear :silly:

We started purées at 4 months and were very hit or miss with doing it every day until 6 months where we started trying to make sure we got at least 2 puree meals a day.

We did BLW for one meal a day at first, whichever meal was most convenient that day. She took to it pretty well and quite soon was eating at all 3 meal times.

Around 5 months, I gave puree once a day, just for practice. Then at 6 months, two meals. Around 7 months, I was at 3 meals. Now at 9 months, I'm at 3 meals and a snack.

we started at 5.5 months she didn't really eat much until about 6.5 almost 7 months. at that point we were on two meals a day. once she started actually eating more ( than just a few spponfuls in a meal) we added a third meal around 7 and a bit months. Now at 8.5 months shes three meals a day and eating a ton!

With DD she's like your DS1; started puree 2 weeks before she turned 6 months, did two weeks of that, and moved onto BLW.

was it a regular part of your LO's food intake right away? Or did you gradually add "meals" in?

With DS1, we started solids at 5.5 months; a combo of purees and small chunks and he pretty quickly moved from one "meal" to 3 in a matter of weeks while still nursing regularly.

With DS2, we gave him a taste of purees last week at just shy of 5.5 months, but he's not super into it like his big bro. We'll give him a taste of puree or a piece of fruit to nosh on if he seems up for it, but for now we're just easing into introducing "meals," and making it a part of our routine.
