@Adira: Sometimes. We have a rain cover for the stroller, so we've gone once or twice in the rain.

I stay up late to do a dream feed but dh always gets him in the morning (6ish). He is an early-riser and I'm not, but I still think he's pretty awesome! Among my friends it seems split pretty close to 50/50 on husbands who help and those who do not.

We're still breastfeeding. My LO is in the best mood in the morning when he wakes up, so my DH (who most nights gets home late and doesn't get much time with him) is usually really happy to get up and bring him to me to nurse...he then snoozes while the baby eats and then burps him when he's finished.

He doesn't get up in the middle of the night because I usually just do those feedings in the nursery on the spare bed, but he would gladly if I asked. In fact, last night I just couldn't handle the 11pm wake-up, so he fed the baby a bottle of pumped milk and I kept sleeping.

I feel really lucky...my DH has supported me 100% with parenting since the beginning. I often wonder if there is a cultural component to it - he's Peruvian and his father was also very involved in his life growing up....but in any event, I love it!

Pretty lucky since my husband willingly gets up at 6am on weekdays to get ready before LO starts waking up around 6:30ish. They hang out and it gives me time to either take a shower or sleep in an extra 30-60 min depending on when DH has to leave. He only gets to spend an hour or so with LO when he gets home from work, so I think he likes their quiet time in the AM.

Weekends we usually trade days - so for instance I'll get up with LO on a Saturday and then switch duties on Sunday.

@cascademom: Well I wouldn't say it's an ultimatum or anything...more of a gentle reminder that when I'm exhausted sex isn't something I have much interest in...but it works well for us because DH takes the cue well (mostly because it's true--I have much more energy for sex when I'm not a zombie, and the sex is better.)

We are FF, so that makes things a little easier, but DH often gets up with M and lets me sleep in. He always hears the monitor before I do! Even on a day where he's working sometimes he'll take care of her and wake me up when he has to leave. He's so good to me!

@FutureMrsMcK: Wow, I like your argument there, but I don't know if that would fly in our house. It was difficult enough when I was recovering and him wanting sex. Withholding it for help around the house would probably be worse than better for the overall happiness of the house.

Now because I'm working FT (LO was weaned about 4 months ago) and I leave later than DH I get LO up every morning and on the weekends we alternate who gets to sleep in.

@Adira: My LO is almost 11 months old. We didn't do this during the winter because he was so little. Also, we weren't really prepared for that part of parenting I guess of being stroller warriors. Since we've gotten used to using the stroller more especially for trips to the park, it's become more frequent. I'm hoping to continue it in the winter. I love our mornings together.

My husband and I were always up with our son in the morning. There were mornings where we traded off and one of us slept in, but for the most part, we did battle together. And by do battle, I mean one of us entertained our son, the other one made breakfast or whatever needed to be done. I'd have serious issues if he tried to pull the "you're already up/have to go" card.

Even though i still bf, my dh and I always alternate. If she wakes up hungry motn or early morning he will feed her a bottle of bm and let me sleep every other time! Just because I bf doesn't mean im not exhausted.

Id make him start taking over feedings now!

Some of you gals are much nicer than me!

We go to sleep at the same time but most nights I'm up multiple times with LO. Most mornings I've taken to shoving DH out of bed for LO's first real awake period of the day. I told him if he ever wants to have sex with me I need to be at least a little bit well-rested (even just an hour or two sleep-in).

And I guilt-trip him a little bit by reminding him how little he gets to see LO during the week (because most night he gets home from work between 10p-1a) and how important it is for the both of them to have some one-on-one time together. But the sex argument works better ;)

um, nope! and I'm the one that goes out of the house to work everyday, where he can stay in his pjs if he wants to.

DH has always worked nights, so I think he's just used to sleeping later, where I've always survived on little sleep. It's easy for me to get up and get everything done but there are some days where I wish I could get a few more minute to myself in the morning!

@MamaJ: Ugh, when I was on maternity leave, my husband was like that too! When he was on his leave, he'd get up for middle of the night feedings and stuff to change diapers, but once he went back to work and before I did, he was all "You can nap during the day and I can't!" Grrrrr. Now we're BOTH back at work full-time and he STILL doesn't help out. Grumble grumble.

@Adira: yes DH complains about how tired he is because he had to get up at 5 am for work. Well maybe you wouldn't be so tired if you weren't up till midnight playing video games... And I've been up 3 times with LO. But he says I get more total sleep because I don't have to be at work. Well it's not my problem you get less sleep because you are playing video games! Go to bed at a normal hour and quit bitching! Haha

@Adira: It's one of my favorite things to do. I know when two of the 5 coffee shops (damn, my hood has a lot!) nearby open up usually at about the 2 hour awake mark for LO on his 2, 3, 4 schedule. I haven't walked us to the other 2-3 coffee shops further away, maybe when he can manage a little more awake time in the morning, we'll do it. I love it. It's our time together in the morning to stroll and for me to get my fix. When we visited my parents, I wondered how far away the coffee shop walking wise. If it wasn't 90 degrees and humid, we would have walked it.

@highwire: During the week, we go to bed at the same time, so he ends up getting an extra two hours of sleep usually. But on the weekends, he stays up really late, which REALLY pisses me off. I HAVE to go to bed at 9:30/10:00 or I won't be able to function when I have to nurse Xander in the morning. I'd LOVE to stay up late and sleep in, but I can't! And then I'm always the one getting up when Xander gets up for the day because Hubs is "tired" and "just went to bed at 4:00 a.m." or whatever. I'm all "That's not MY fault!" Ugh. Now I'm angry, haha.

@Adira: Ours is a little opposite. I go to bed at 9-10pm to do the morning wakeups. DH is a computer programmer, known for being nocturnal. His entire family is, which is kind of troubling in a way. So, he's up hours after I go to bed playing video games. I wake up and do the morning stuff.

LO and I have a routine for the weekends too. I like taking him in the stroller for walks or to get coffee together. For me, that's our special morning thing. I hope to continue it when he's older and a full on toddler.

@cascademom: *cries* Not being able to sleep in until your babies are 18??? I THINK that Hubs will be willing to let me sleep in once a week, on the weekend, haha. But that's probably as good as I'll get. I know when I've been sick (or in the very beginning when Xander wasn't STTN), Hubs would get up with the baby to let me sleep, so I'm hoping he'll do it at least ONCE a week once I stop breastfeeding...

My in-laws come to visit and love spending as much time with LO as possible, so those are the days I get to sleep in (we combo feed so I don't necessarily HAVE to breastfeed first thing, she can drink a bottle of formula). But their visits are the only time I ever get to sleep in/have a morning off of baby duty.

Oh, and they will be here this weekend. Woo! :)
