Hey @bluestriped bee. I've been off HB for a bit, so sorry to hear that your IUI wasnt a success :bummed:

I had my final consult with RE yesterday to review the recent bloods and get going with our IVF schedule. He asked when we would want to do this, I told him anytime from that very moment would be great!

After the RE cons, I met the IVF nurse assigned to me,she gave me the meds crash course and the first 5 days of stim meds. I'm so glad I didn't need to do the BCP course, my patience is non-existent at this point! Just need to to my provera course to induce AF for CD1 and off we go. It's terrifying to think that if this is successful, I'll be pregnant by the end of September.

So holding thumbs that both you and I crack it on our first IVF

@bluestriped bee: Ganirelix will be used before egg retrieval to stop you from ovulating. I was on Menopur and Follistim if you have any questions. I used Cetrotide instead of Ganirelix but it's used for the same reason.

So we spoke to our RE this afternoon...

I'm waiting for AF to come and then I'll be put on BCP for a month. In that time, we'll do bloodwork, injection class and meet with the IVF coordinator. RE thinks we'll get in our first IVF cycle by the end of the year. Sounds like a far away, but maybe the IVF coordinator will have an earlier schedule for us. I asked about meds and I'll be on Menopur and follistim for the stims. Then progesterone, Ganirelix, estrogen after the transfer, I think. I'll continue taking the metformin and dexamethasone to treat my PCOS and DOR.

Oh, my RE said that he won't be doing a fresh cycle, just frozen transfers. He said that recently research shows fresh cycles aren't that successful and that when they fail, they sometimes blame it on the embryo when really it was the lining or some other reason. So he and his clinic likes to give our embryos a better chance. That's probably why we have a longer timeline to getting to the transfer. Once he retrieves my eggs and fertilize them (with ICSI), I'll be given a 1-2 month break before doing the (frozen) transfer. Lots of waiting is about to happen..

@bluestriped bee: I'm so sorry that your 6th IUI didn't work...but I have very high hopes for you going forward! :goodluck:  My very first RE consult was mid-May, started BCPs then. I had my injection teaching and SHG/mock transfer 3 weeks later. I started Lupron the following week, and stims (x7 days) the week after that. 5 day transfer was July 4. So 6 weeks or so? I bet since you have a relationship with your RE, you will be able to get started very quickly! When will you meet with your RE to plan?

@bluestriped bee: I'm sorry about your BFN today. We decided to do IVF at the end of May, I had a SHG scheduled during my cycle in June and the mock transfer was done as part of this. I started BCP in late June, my ER was late July.

I'm so sorry your IUIs didn't work! We had our IVF consult in the middle of April. I started BCP at the end of April. DH and I both had some blood work done, DH repeated a SA and then had a sample frozen in case we had an issue with a fresh sample the day of. I had a mock transfer and then started Lupron at the end of my BCP pack. Continued that until I started stims at the end of May (then I stayed on Lupron with half the dose through stims).

My ER was June 13th and my ET was June 16th.

Best of luck to you!!!

Hi there! I haven't read all the previous responses yet, but I thought I'd chime in with my experience. We had our initial IVF consult at the beginning of Nov, I had to wait till the beginning of my next cycle (Thanksgiving day!) to begin testing. Our testing phase took longer than usual because of the holidays and the need to schedule a sperm aspiration procedure for DH. We finished the testing and DH's surgery by mid Jan, and I started stims on Feb. 6. (I had been on BCP since the beginning of Dec. so that we could manipulate my cycle around testing appointments.) We got pregnant on the first try after never having seen a BFP either! I still have all 10 of them that I took at the end of that TWW. I hope you guys are successful soon, too!

I'm sorry your IUI wasn't successful. When everything was ready and we had DH's (surgically retrieved) sperm, it was pretty quick.

We had a consultation in July and I told my RE I wanted to a cycle in August. I didn't take BC or Lupron, just Provera for a few days at the end of my last cycle to induce AF at the right time.

My RE designed the cycle so I would have the retrieval between Aug. 13-15. He was right on, I'm going in for ER tomorrow :)

@bluestriped bee: I had fairly high doses of Menopur with my IUIs and didn't grow many large follicles. Basically no BCP was because of my DOR.

@Mrs.Pinecone316: Yeah, that does sound quick for you! It good to hear that but I can see how it can be too quick. Luckily, being a part of this site, has really helped me emotionally.

Thank you! I'm feeling better about IVF after reading the responses on this thread. I was afraid I would have to wait a whole 2 months or something for IVF to start. I'm impatient and wanted to get pregnant yesterday. ;)

@bluestriped bee: It went pretty quick. It was about 1 cycle of testing where they did my CD3 labs, then a saline ultrasound and mock transfer the next week then basically waited until I started my period to start stims. I was never on BCP prior like a lot of people are. So it all went very quick. I remember being anxious to get started and then before you know it its time and you almost wish you had more time for your body to be perfectly ready.

Sorry the IUI's didn't work out for you, but there are SO many girls who had so many failed IUI's and then got their BFP on their first IVF cycle. Hope thats the case for you!

@bluestriped bee: I'm so sorry.

We decided to move to IVF after our unsuccessful IUI cycle due to our MFI. The IUI had solved my ovulation issues but DH's washed numbers were not good. I got my period at the beginning of August and started BC pills.

I was on BC pills for a pack and a half because the lab was closed at the end of August for cleaning. I started stims in mid-September and had my egg retrieval on September 24. We did a 5 day transfer on September 29.

Good luck. :goodluck:

I'm so sorry it didn't work. :(
I was ready to move on to IVF back in Jan when we started seeing the RE, but decided to give IUI's a few tries too. After one cycle of TI on Clomid and 3 IUIs (1 Clomid, 2 Letrozole) I was ready, but based on timing of the FL vacation we did one more cycle, I opted to have a med free cycle, we are on to IVF. I'm on CD5 now and just started BCP on CD3 and did bloodwork (Estradiol & FSH) on CD4 (normally 3, but I was flying back that day). I will be on BCP about 2 weeks before starting stims after a baseline u/s and bloodwork again.

@bluestriped bee: I actually didn't do BCP either, so they did the trial transfer during my month of testing. It was pretty obvious from my AMH and FSH and antral follicle count that I shouldn't be suppressed.

We knew going into our 3rd IUI, we would move to IVF if not PG. I did not go on BCP because they didn't want to surpress my ovaries due to my past responses to the stims. But I did switch REs between my last IUI and IVF, so I had one down cycle between. During that time, I also had a trial transfer, got my protocol and ordered meds. Wishing you tons of :goodluck: !

@bluestriped bee: I'm bummed for you that you had to endure so much disappointment to get to this step but am very hopeful that IVF will finally do the trick! The trial transfer turned out to be pretty important for me because that's when they figured out how unusual my cervix was and what they needed to do to get around the strange twists.

@bluestriped bee: nope. I think you're typically awake for transfers. It's retrievals that they put you under for. A transfer is just as quick and easy as an IUI I think.

@Leialou: Oh, interesting. I'll ask my RE about that tomorrow. Did you have to be put under for them to practice on you?

@bluestriped bee: that's when the RE practices transferring embryos into your uterus. Mine told me they don't like to be surprised in transfer day while actually working with the embryos. She practiced three or four times and got comfortable with the shape and positioning of my cervix and noted in my chart that it was tilted.

@Leialou: Ah, ok. Cool. Thanks. So I'll most likely be put on BC. Good to remember that before I see the RE tomorrow.
