Dd is 15 months and goes down about 3-3.5 hers after wakeup but stays up 6-7+ hrs after her nap! Weird but that's what she likes!

@Beyond2: my LO is the opposite of yours - she's up for 7-8 hours during the day before going down for a nap and then bedtime a few hours later. People can't believe she goes down for bedtime so soon after getting up from her nap but that's what works for us.

Wake up around 7:30/8:00
Up for 7-8 hours
Nap around 2:30
Get her up from nap by 4:30
Bedtime is 8:00

My LO has been the same. I'm been stressing out trying to keep him up in the morning. Looks like I'm not alone though!

This was part of Lorelei's transition to one nap. She would go down from 10am to 12pm. It lasted for several months, and then around 17 months she switched to an afternoon nap. I miss her once-a-day morning nap days because she had such a great bedtime back then. Now she doesn't go down for the night until around 10pm. Gives her lots of extra mama time, but cut WAAAY back on time with Mr. T alone ;)

This happened to me yesterday. DS took a wonderful 3.5 hour nap starting at 9:30 am. And of course didn't want to take an afternoon nap even though I could tell he was tired.

That sounds about right to me. LO wakes up between 6 and 7 most days and is ready for a long nap between 9 and 10. He will often sleep for a solid block then, and only a short time in the afternoon, if at all. Although, some days he surprised us and skips the am nap and does a marathon nap in the afternoon. My feelings are that they will sleep when they need it :)

Whatever works for you. My LO naturally falls asleep from about 11-1, but I can push it out if I really really need to.

Yep we had the same thing and then all of a sudden he stayed up later and his nap is at a normal 1 pm now. If its working I wouldn't sweat it.6

My DD wakes up at 6 and is down for a 2 hour nap from 11-1 and bedtime at 7. I would say in your situation do what works for you and your LO. My motto has always been not mess with what works!

F did that although not as extreme. He wanted his nap at 10am! It's been several months and now he does 12-2.

Yup! DD has been doing this as she fully transitions to 1 nap. It has slowly been moving towards noon, but I am amazed that she can be up for 8 hours until bedtime. It really is what works for her, though, so I just go with it.

I have a friend whose son was like that...

You have to do whatever works for you. If he is happy for those 8 hours, then morning nap seems to be ideal for him :)

Does anyone's LO only take one nap a day, but take that nap in the morning? My son seems to be transitioning, but he goes down for his first nap 2 hours after wakeup. It's the only way he'll fall asleep with out an hour long fight. It seems to be his prime nap time, but then he's up a solid 8 hours before bedtime. It seems weird to me but everytime I push him later it's a horrible battle and short nap.
