2!!! get 2!!!! I wish, wish, WISH we had gotten 2 cats when we got our cat as a kitten; I think she would really benefit from having a friend/playmate, but now she is almost 5 and absolutely hates other cats so we cannot introduce a friend :(

That kitten is so cute! Love his little fnacy white bib!

@zippylef: He's adorable! You HAVE to get him!

We always had two. I feel like it is nice for them to have another kitty around for company, especially if they are home alone a lot. One pair that we had were quite a few years apart in age. The older one would always give the younger one a bath, it was so cute.

I have two cats. And, in my experience, they get into less trouble now that i have two versus one. They don't claw stuff, they play with each other, and they are able to entertain each other when I'm not around. My two male cats are only 2 months apart and it is perfect. In the beginning, the older one would jump on the new one and bite him...he was just establishing dominance, though. After about 2 weeks, they are the best of buddies. Now they mostly just play fight and I can even feed them out of the same dishes without them being territorial.

Cats are cake to take care of. Absolute cake.

I think we're going to get him. We'll have 2 male cats. This kitty is 7 weeks old, so they will be close in age.

This is the picture the lady sent me. She has been calling him Oliver. We're discussing names but we're talking about Winston.

omg, ONE. We had just one and then we got 2 more and I feel like my home is taken over by cats. I love animals but with DS, it's just a lot.

We have two but one was six when I got the other one and they don't really get along. They don't fight, they just don't cuddle and hang out together. When they leave us, we plan on getting two at once.

2! We started off with 1 and he was great until he turned one... then he became a terror! He would attack us wanting to play, we have scars from him! When he was two we finally got another cat and they are best buds now. It was a rough start introducing them but after a month or so they became friends.

2! 2! 2! I will never just get one cat alone again! We adopted 2 last year together, and I never regret that decision. They are the best of buddies, play together all the time, sleep together, eat together. This might sound gross but when 1 is pooping, (like in the middle of pooping) the other one is there starting to cover it already! hahaha

I grew up with only getting 1 cat at a time, and they never got along together. So I would suggest that if you are going to get another cat, to do so fairly soon, like the sooner the better!

So, we have a 4 month old kitten named Stanley. He's very sweet and cuddly but he's fairly hyper and has started peeing on things. We have him scheduled to be neutered next week.

We've been considering getting him a playmate. We think some of his behavior is because he is bored and lonely. Are cats better alone or in a pair, in your experience?
