@cake2017: I feel like it’s normal baby behaviour 🤷🏼‍♀️ At least for my kids. The midwife would say “are you getting enough sleep? /baby sleeping?” And I just said sort of, not really, but my other kids were similar so it isn’t a great shock. That was my response to nearly every query. I’m just riding the baby wave and know it gets better eventually.

@Petitduck: She has given me long stretches too. Pretty much all you wrote is what she is doing. ha

Of she's fighting the swaddle but you think she needs it to sleep try the miracle blanket swaddle. It's like a soft, soft straightjacket 😂

@cake2017: I have a halo swaddle up type brand and he swaddle up love to dream I got both off a buy and sell on Facebook. I also sprung for the size small to use when baby was fresh. It was worth it for me. And I’m crappy at swaddling so baby would bust out and just zipping them in while tired was easier for me. I like the slightly more arms up, closer to their “natural” sleep position aspect of these sacks, might make them be more acceptable to a baby who fights swaddling.

I find nighttime sucks though for sleep, haha. I get a good stretch st the beginning typically and then it’s a crap shoot from then until morning with 2 hour or 1 hour stretches until I give up and hold baby. And for my kids it isn’t even hunger, it’s just fussiness and wanting to be held at that point.

I got a 4.5 hour stretch for the first stretch (baby was in bed by 8:20) tonight and then 2.5 and now it will probably only be 1 hour until morning when my other kids get up. Yesterday my baby was fussy and eating every 1.5-3 hours which isn’t the normal for us. And only 45 minute bursts of naps in the day yesterday. I’m hoping this shifting over the last few days means more night sleep will happen consistently. Especially with extra day feeding.

In my mind, more milk in the day means they’ll need less at night or want less!

Try a swaddle up brand swaddle if she’s fighting it. Worked very well for us.

@LadyDi: @Kemma: So baby slept five hours straight last night and then fought her swaddle around 2am. I watched her milk intake closely and made sure she was eating frequently rather than napping long. I’m going to see how tonight goes.

Any tips on swaddling and if I don’t how that will go? TIA

@Kemma: @LadyDi: Okay, she slept five hours straight two days in a row. I thought here was hope. I’m going to pay attention to her input during the day closely. I supplement for various reasons- milk supply, her losing weight , work and pumping etc. I did it for my first and it worked very well. I was also able to nurse him until 18 months without added stress for me. Thank you!

Sounds like she's cluster feeding, which sounds normal for 1 month...although very frustrating and tiring. DS3 really fought the swaddle when he was a newborn and we ended up double swaddling at night for awhile. We used a halo swaddle and a muslin swaddle at the same time. He actually fought the swaddle a lot more at 0-1 months than he does now at 2.5 months.

Normal! But very frustrating! Your milk supply will be strongest at night due to your prolactin levels being higher at this time so she’s possibly trying to build your supply? Can I ask if there’s a particular reason for supplementing?

Hi,

Baby is waking frequently during the night and won’t settle. She wants to nurse on one side repeatedly. I’m exhausted. Two days ago she slept 5 hours straight. I try to feed every 3 hours w/ breastfeeding and formula.

Problems: She’s fighting the swaddle. I tried one arm didn’t work. Merlin magic says 3 months. Anything out there similar?

Feeding during the day: should i feed more often during the day despite her sleeping a lot?

Thank you
