I don't know how to handle this one yet. DS does not sleep well at daycare. We're happy if he gets 45 min TOTAL for the day. Therefore, he tends to make up for this on the weekends with two really good naps. I don't really want to mess with that yet. However, when I was off for 5 days around Thanksgiving, I was noticing that he was probably ready to go down to the one nap as he was more well rested. I think at this point I am going to wait until he is transitioned to the toddler room and they all take one nap at the same time. I think he will be more apt to sleep at daycare when the lights are low and the room is quiet. It's a free for all in the infant room and he's never really gotten used to it.

@NovBaby1112: ugh this is the worst. We are on minute 15 of screaming even though he was laying his head down on the cart at Target and almost fell asleep on the 3 minute ride home. I never know if I should get him up and try an hour or two later or just let him work it out. He was rubbing his eyes at 9am, maybe I should've tried to put him down then? But then the rest of the day is all off schedule. Yesterday he was up for 7.5 hours between nap and bedtime! Hope this passes soon for you too!

We are going through this right now and it is BRUTAL. We have been in the transition phase for over a month now and it hasnt been going that smoothly. Some days LO clearly needs 2 naps, but if the first nap is any longer than 1 hour- I can forget about her taking a second nap. So, if she does need her morning nap, I wake her up after 30-45 minutes which I HATE doing, but it is the only hope for her taking a second one. Most of the days though, she is taking just 1 nap, but is exhausted by like 11, so pushing her until at least 12:30 is tough. Her 1 nap has not lengthened at all either- it's only 1 hour 30 mins! I was expecting once she switched to 1 nap, it would be at least 2-3 hours. At daycare though, she takes 1 nice long nap around 2.5 hours. Not sure why it is so different at home? Sigh. So no real advice, but you arent alone! Oh, and she has been fighting sleeping in her crib too- so fun times all around, lol.

For those transitioning or have transitioned to one nap, how did you do it?? N is 13 months and has so many things going on I just don't know if he's really ready. We just got over a cold, on the verge of walking more than 3 steps, bottle weaned so nap and bedtime routine is changed, and he shortened his nighttime sleep by an hour all in the last 3 weeks. And of course the always constant "is he teething?"

So for the last two weeks he's been really inconsistent, sometimes fighting one or both naps, a few times going down with no problem, nap ranging from 30 mins to 2 hours. Yesterday he cried for 40 mins before falling asleep for an hour for the first nap, then screamed for an hour for the second before I gave up. His sleep cues are either at weird times (an hour after he wakes up in the morning) or non-existent. I don't know what to do!!
