@Foodnerd81: Sorry for the late reply! Definitely cross the bridge for a walk around the main street in New Hope. So cute and great restaurants there. Triumph is a must if you like beer!

@Foodnerd81: So, so many good places! Lambertville Station is a good, reliable place. Try having a drink down in the wine cellar- that's fun.

If you cross the bridge in New Hope, PA (you walk across the bridge), check out the Blue Moose for brunch, the Landing for a nice drink/meal on the water, or Triumph for a good burger, beer, and live music. Many people I know love Marsha Brown's (creole/cajun) but I have not been myself.

Just booked an inn in Lambertville! @Mrs. Pajamas: @lioneyes: @2PeasinaPod: @Periwinkle: @littlebug: any must dos or favorite restaurants? We are just there for a day so won't get to do much I guess, but I'm looking forward to it! Haven't slept away from the kids since May 2016...

@Foodnerd81: I grew up in central nj and highly recommend lambertville, French town or Stockton. Super cute inns. Lambertville has the most restaurants probably. Can give specific advice if you go for that area. Dh and I will be doing the same in September. Can't wait!

We once stayed in a Bed and breakfast in Long Branch. There are some decent restaurants in that town too. Check out Bay Head or Spring Lake too.

Any favorite inns in New Hope area? We really want a king size bed, and otherwise aren't too picky. Preferably under $300 I guess (though less is better!)

@snarkybiochemist: yeah Cape may is too far. We aren't really looking for city so Philadelphia is out, but in definitely looking at new hope and lambertsville. If that doesn't work I'll take a look at the shore towns. I just picture the shore like from my party days (I grew up in NJ so I'm not talking about the show 😂)

I second (or third) Princeton, New Hope and even Philly if you are looking for some place not on the shore. Cape May is a great town but is probably more like 2-2.5 hrs depending on where you are in central NJ.

I'm from PA and love New Hope as well and even Peddler's Village is close by with good restaurants. But New Hope is really cute to walk through and window shop. It's got a great little town.

As for shoretowns, we go to Avalon every year and love it. Not sure that's close enough to you though.

We love Asbury Park as an adult getaway. Tons of amazing restaurants. We stay at the Berkeley, but there is a new hotel called the Asbury that I have read amazing reviews about.

Philadelphia! You could stay at a great hotel in Center City (maybe one with a rooftop pool) and then go to dinner/drinks.

@Truth Bombs: that's about an hour and a half from them, which is about the far end of doable. Looks like they have last minute deals too.

@Tidybee: @littlebug: I'll look into new hope- I've heard of it but never been. Thanks!

I was also going to suggest New Hope. There are cute little B&Bs you can stay in and the downtown area has several restaurants.

My parents have offered to take the kids for a night when we visit them next week. Any suggestions for someplace to go within roughly an hour of central NJ? Looking for something peaceful, don't care about nightlife as long as there is at least a decent restaurant nearby.

Possibly a shore town that's less party and more couple in their 30s who left their kids with the grandparents? Not really interested in NYC. Only one night, and I know a lot of places will have two night minimums. Thanks!
