@FutureMrsMcK: How weird! Yep, it's Janie, but I've been called Jamie my entire life. I've always enjoyed having a pretty uncommon name in spite of having to say "N, as in Nancy" all the time. :) I'm glad I wasn't Jamie, that was a really popular name in the '80s!

@Thenetexan: they do!
I have a one piece for M that has snaps for diaper changing.

I think with a baby you won't be out wih them that long anyway so it won't be but for one diaper change, if that so not a big deal.

Ohh she's not even here yet? Then it's really not a big deal. They should not be out in the sun for more than a brief period anyway bc sunscreen is not safe for 6 months and under I think. Or is it a year?

That suit is so cute! My LO was 7-11 months during swimsuit season last year, and she wore her Gymboree 6-12 month suit the whole time. For my LO, Gymboree fits true to size - she fell within the height and weight for a Gymboree size 6-12 months, and the suit fit perfectly.

Neither disposable nor cloth swim diapers are designed to hold in pee, just poop, so you'll only need to change poop diapers while swimming. We were in the water all the time last summer, and I never felt like it was a pain to have LO in a one piece.

@photojane: Gah your name's Janie? That's my MIL's name, and we debated Sadie for a girl name, but DH nixed it because MIL always wished she'd been "Jane" or "Jamie" instead of a nickname, and felt that Sadie was the same (and Sadie was originally a nn for Sarah--my name!) I love the name Janie and pushed hard for Sadie and was sad when DH vetoed it.

ANYWAY.

I love the suit! You should get it, it's so cute

Get it!!

That being said, I'm ashamed to admit I have purchased this suit, the poppy suit from the same line, as well as about 4 others already. :) Granted we know lots of folks with pools including my parents and our aunt who watches her 4 days a week, but we won't have warm weather for another 5 months!! I need to start a shopaholic mom group. :)

GAH! I just walked by a Gymboree today and say the nautical stuff in the window, it took ever bit of my strength to walk by. I used one piece suits on Prettybaby all the time, didn't bother either of us.

My mom bought LO a suit before she was born for summer and gave it to her on Christmas. She is 4 months old Sunday about about 14 lbs, the bathing suit (from target) reads "M 18-23 lbs" and it fits perfectly! Hope that helps a little..I hear generally suits run small!

@shopaholic: I know, right?! So adorable.

One more question for the moms...

@autumnlove, @artbee, @Thenetexan, @MamaG, @BoogieBea, @Thehistoryofus: What is swimsuit fit like? It's obviously stretchy (nylon + spandex), but I'm wondering if 3-6 months might still be too big. We have a trip to the beach house planned for end of April/beginning of May, and she'll be just turning 3 months. Do y'all think the 3-6 months Gymboree suit will be too big then?

That is adorable! I've only bought a one piece for my daughter too. The few times we've used it, diaper changing wasn't an issue since we don't stay out in the sun for very long before we bring her back inside anyway. But she was close to 18 months by then so she doesn't need diaper changes as much as a younger baby.

We had a one piece for our LO last summer. She was under one at the time. We never spent very long in the pool. She didn't like the sunshade over her float or a sun hat on her head. I would say if we spent 45 minutes in the pool at a time, I'd be shocked.

And honestly, in Texas it was just too darn hot to be outside much at all. This is all based on her being in a real pool and not a kiddie pool though.

@Thenetexan: I was thinking the same thing - why no snaps?! I would be getting the suit in 3-6 months. She's due early February. This is my first, so I have no idea how many diapers she'll be going through by May/June.

How old is your LO? I referred the one pieces when we went to the beach at 9 months. One less sunscreen area to worry about. I always wondered why try don't put snaps down there for bathing suits? That suit is adorable! I say if you are beyond the 15 diapers a day stage, go for it!

Are they terribly annoying?

I found the most precious swimsuit for Sadie today at Gymboree, and I'm kind of obsessed with it (see below!).

I have a coupon for a free bodysuit & free shipping with purchase, so I'm extremely tempted to go ahead and get it. I'm just wondering though, is the diaper changing super annoying with a one piece? I'm not really a fan of baby bikinis, but the idea of having to completely remove a wet suit several times does not sound fun.

Do you do a one piece for your baby girl? If so, is the diaper changing annoying?
