@tlcbaby: The only leaks we ever had were overnight and we've been in them for 10 months. I think it's hard to get leaks during the day from the diaper being loose, because it really soaks things up right away and they are changed quickly enough to not get over-saturated.

@tlcbaby: do you have both inserts in? Even when LO didn't need both, in the beginning of using OS they fit better with both stuffed.

@tlcbaby: We never had leaks in cloth if that means anything. The only time we had an issue was from RockinGreen buildup and it resolved as soon as the diapers were stripped. No fit issues :)

@anbanan15: That makes sense, I think I am so scared of leaks I am afraid to loosen anything! :)

@anbanan15: This is what we do, too.

I never worry if it's uneven. As long as LO is comfortable and leak free, it doesn't really matter. I also have no idea which snaps he is on (as far as 3 in, 4 in, etc), and just go with whatever seems like it fits comfortably each time. So far (7 months in) we haven't had many leaks, so it works for us!

If you are using a diaper with a double row of waist snaps you can adjust them independently of each other...for example if you needed the top tighter around the waist and then a little wider in the hips, you could adjust the very top say 4 snaps in on both sides and then the second row of snaps only 3 in on each side. We did this a lot with DS in his BG's and RaR's.

I'm always just mixing up the snaps. Sometimes I'll have them uneven - 3 & 4 usually. I'll also adjust the rise like @MrsRoo:. I've noticed that my BumGenius pockets with snaps are fitting him better right now that the AIO with velcro. We're on the highest rise (all unsnapped), but the velcro rubs his tummy. The pocket ones we're on the middle rise and he's got no issues. So I think it's all a crapshoot :)

I just do the snaps unevenly, like you're doing. Also, when I let the rise down, then I tighten the waist again to compensate.

I've been having this same issue. I actually just experimented with adjusting the rise snaps and it seems to be helping. I switched the outside snaps to the middle rise and left the middle snap on the small rise. Did that make any sense? It's allowed me to keep the diaper tight around her middle but looks much more comfy overall with less red marks.

A was on the smallest snap setting in his Bum Genius diapers, but it was starting to leave red marks that didn't go away on his waist so it seems they are getting a bit too tight. I moved both sides out to the next snaps (four snaps in on both sides) and it seemed too loose. So I went lopsided and did four snaps on one side and five on the other and that seems to be working for now, but I wondered what others have done.

Seems like it is kind of a trial and error thing to figure out which size is going to fit best.
