Maybe stay in the room with him to let him know you're there?

That's what I did for my held/rock/bounce to sleep only baby around 9mo. We cosleep tho so this happens on our bed. I lay there with her while she hangs out and it takes anywhere from 15-30 min for her to fall asleep but she does and there's no crying!

At 14 months, we were putting her to bed awake after her bedtime routine that we have had in place since she was 3-4 months. Like the pp, we also had to do sleep training to get there.

My daughter is 13.5 months old. Our bedtime routine currently involves bath time (every other night), diaper-free time in her room playing with toys, diaper, PJs, "tooth-brushing" (she chews on the silicone banana toothbrush with a speck of toothpaste), and cuddles in the glider while reading a book. We say goodnight to everything in the room (pictures on the wall, her owl backpack, her mobile, her stuffed animals), and then lay her down awake. We say night-night, and 95% of the time she is happy talking to herself/playing for a few minutes before going to sleep. The other 5% (if she cries more than just a few whimpers), I pick her up once, give her a hug, and lay her back down saying night-night. If she wants to take her board book to bed, we let her, which seems to help.

Lo is 14 months old and is still rocked to sleep for bed time, then transferred. The interesting thing is he goes down by himself at daycare perfectly but at home he cries if we try to put him down without rocking him to sleep. I am worried if we don't enforce him going down on his own we will be rocking him forever, which I actually love but it is tiring sometimes. How are your one year old's put down for sleep?
