When LO is home with us on the weekends, he naps twice (at 14 months), but he dropped the second nap at daycare a few months ago... they report that he doesn't want a morning nap, and instead sleeps from 12-2:30, and that's it. He's usually kinda cranky for the hour or two before bedtime, but it seems to work.

At 12 months, we were doing 2 naps, but my son is an early riser, so he needs that morning nap, even now, at 18 months. I have no intention to artificially wean him of the morning nap, he can do that when he's ready. FWIW I know a lot of moms who start weaning from the morning nap around 12 months, either in preparation for moving up to toddler rooms in daycare or to accomodate older siblings.

My LO only took 1 nap at 12 months too. Sometimes she would take 2, but it was rare. Naps were usually 40 mins-1hr20 mins.
And she would sleep 12 hours at night.
As long as your LO isn't cranky and doesn't seem tired I'd say he's getting enough sleep.

At 14 months old she's down to one nap in the late am. She still only naps 40 mins - 1hr20. :P

Mine has started to fight the afternoon nap, which I understand is pretty common. But if yours skips the morning nap and isn't crabby, he probably is ready for just one. That does seem short, though!

If he's just one year he may be in wonder week 54. We had a really really hard time with naps during that 6 weeks. Then he was taking 2 2 hour naps. We are approaching our next wonder week and his sleep is difficult again.

I was wondering if anyone else has a one year old that only takes one nap. He sleeps 11 hours at night but recently has started skipping his morning nap and only sleeping 40 minutes to an hour in the afternoon.

My pediatrician says that he is supposed to get 11 hours at night and 2 - 3 hours during the day in naps. He is not crabby during the day.

Has anyone else had a one year old drop naps so early?
