I returned a Bella band my friend got me from Target (I had already bought one myself by then), and of course, didn't have a gift receipt. The guy at Guest Services asked for my ID (I knew this/was used to this), but then told me that each person is only able to return $70 worth of items a year without a receipt! So that would definitely suck if you got a lot of duplicates from Target.

I know someone who registered at Target this past summer and didn't have any issues! I planned to register there and BRU for different price points. In the little note area, I plan to write, "Please include gift receipts just in case!" I don't particularly care what people think..LOL!

I registered at Babies R Us and Amazon. I would say the gifts were pretty even...half & half!

I actually chose the free Super Saving shipping items only (if there were two or more vendors on Amazon selling the same item, I went for the free shipping one) because I HATE paying for shipping, too.

I'm hoping most people just ship directly to us because there is nothing more boring than watching someone open gifts at a shower.

One thing that is nice about Amazon is you can add things from any website as well, plus they tell you when the items are purchased and by whom, so if you forget or someone doesn't write it down for you at your shower, you can check back when writing thank you notes.

Many people have bought us things online and either had it shipped to themselves before the shower or shipped straight to us (and they'll probably bring a book to the shower since we're doing that thing as well). But I still think it's nice to have both options just in case.

I like having registries at a store because personally I hate paying for shipping so I'm not going to make other people do it. Also, pretty much none of my online items got bought for wedding or baby shower. I stalked my baby shower registry and half the items were bought the day of the shower, not something that could happen with Amazon.

I wouldn't worry about having too much. Just make sure you need all the stuff because you don't want people to buy the stuff you kind of want and not the stuff you need.

My cousin registered at only B&M stores, but none of her items were available in local stores! They were all online only. So make sure that some items are actually available to be purchased at your local stores otherwise it would defeat the purpose.

I also registered at Amazon and Babies R Us. But I noticed that most of my gifts came from Babies because my friends wanted to physically bring a gift to my baby shower. It was fun to be able to open presents at the shower (and take pics). If I had to do it again, I'd probably do the same. :)

Thanks all, for the feedback! OK, so we'll prob do BRU then, instead of Target. I avoided Target for our wedding registry, so I figure their policies have only gotten worse as time went on.

I had the same thoughts! I'm also on the same page with @mrs. tictactoe. Do not register at Target. Their return policy is junk. I decided, for my husband's parents and my Gram, we would register at a store. I have most of our stuff on Amazon.com and a few things at Babies R Us. It's too early for me to have a registry (20 weeks) but I got that book and had to start making my lists!! :)

I registered at Amazon and Babies R Us, but there are very few things in store at BRU anyways, so it's practically an online only registry. I wish there were more things in store, because in my experience, if the shower is on a Sunday, 95% people won't shop until that Saturday. Which means they'll likely be a lot of clothes and blankets in my future. I'm just praying that people give gift receipts.

Don't register at Target, first of all. They have a terrible return policy. I think it is a good idea to register for a few things at a B&M store just in case. I actually registered for as much as I could at Babies R Us and everything else they didn't have that I wanted on Amazon. Babies R Us also has coupons, which Amazon doesn't have, but Amazon prices are usually better. We are registered for 90 items, so I don't think your number sounds high. Little things add up and just know that you can't expect to get everything off of your registry.

I have an online only registry with myregistry.com--but I like this because I can add items from any website to the registry. The majority of my items come from Amazon, Babies R Us, and Target, so that the old school people who want to buy something in a store could still go to get some of the items on my list from the store if they want to.

I have about 125 items on the registry--though this includes large items (furniture) and small items, as well as some things specifically for me related to postpartum and breastfeeding.

So I think we're done with our registry (I got too excited once my Baby Bargains book arrived and I spent about 4 days adding stuff after looking at reviews)-- our main registry is Amazon.com, but I also want to do a B&M store like Babies R Us or Target (we don't have any Buy Buy Babys near us, unfortunately).

Hubs thinks we should do Amazon only because a) everyone, including his aunts, knows how to buy stuff online and b) if they're bad on planning ahead, they'll just give us cash. I think we should add a B&M store because I know some people prefer to physically buy something, and we shouldn't limit how people want to get us gifts since they're being so generous in doing so!

Also-- how many items did you have on your registry? We have 86 total :( Granted, about 20 of them are cloth diapers or CD-related, but still... that seems like a lot.

How many registries did you have? And how much "stuff" was on your main registry?
