How about an inflatable bathtub you could fill with sensory items - oatmeal, dry rice/dry beans, etc., and some little shovels/buckets.
You could also do some messy play activities like make playdoh or fingerpaint (can be used in the bathtub to avoid mess) - the Bee has some great recipes for these in the DIY section. Even if you brought the supplies for these things from home, they should be small and very pack-able.

My LO also really liked (and still likes!) unpacking suitcases at that age. She had an absolute field day scattering my socks and undies around the house.

But really if you're driving...I don't see the harm in taking something like the jumperoo. If having it in the trunk of your car will give you some extra peace of mind and you have the space, why not?

2.5 weeks is a long time if you are worried about being housebound. I would totally take the jumperoo!

You could get a doorway jumper...that's what we did for a long trip when dd was 6-7 months. I'd bring toys and books too. Not everything but the things that occupy the most time!

@chopsuey: The bath is a good idea! They have a hot tub in the complex too, but I don't think she's old enough yet.

@hilsy85: That's true! I don't really like to let her play with household items at home, so that should be "new" and fun for her! She likes the pots and pans, but I've never let her have a box of tissues yet! Good idea to save that one. Ergo and BOB for short walks for sure. I will go stir crazy too.

Honestly, household items work great as toys--tupperware, tissue boxes, pots and pans, etc. Will you be able to pop her in the ergo and walk outside?

I would take her favorite toys and a couple things she's never played with before?
Would also take lots of nature walks, have her play in the bath (if she's into baths). My kids love baths and would happily play for 30 mins in the middle of the day if I let them.
I would also take some cleaning supplies (vinegar + paper towels) so you can clean surfaces and just let her roam.
have funnnn!!!

I went to visit my mom for a week with a 7 month old and was sorry I didn't bring something that would both contain and entertain him! If the jumperoo would give you a break for a decent amount of time, I say take it!

@Silva: His family will be there for 5 days, which should be a little helpful, but 1/2 of them are going skiing as well. I wish there were some stores close by I could just pick new things up there instead of having to take them on our drive. That's a good point though. She is not that into books yet, besides wanting to chew on them. lol.

Will you have family there? We don't have any big toys in our home and LO stays entertained, especially if there are lots of people around to entertain her. I would bring books and toys, and not worry about lugging the big stuff...
Maybe buy a new toy that she hasn't seen before to mix it up?

We're headed to the family mountain home for 2.5 weeks in the new year (depending on if my sis goes into labor). DH will be skiing every day. It will be cold and snowy. Though K and I can go out for walks everyday, there's not much around - the nearest K mart is an hour away to get an idea.
So... I'll basically be house-bound with a crawling, assisted-standing, wanting-to-walk, 10 m/o. And we're driving there. So what gear & toys would you bring if you were me? I'm planning to bring the Bumbo as a baby-holder/high-chair. A PnP or the Bjorn Travel crib. DH already thinks that is a lot of things to pack. I know we'll need more things to keep LO occupied and happy all day. Not sure if I should break down the jumperoo and re-assemble it there or if that's overboard. I actually have a friend that would take their swing with them everywhere - even overnight! So...

Any suggestions welcome! We're not used to being housebound so long!
