We store natural in the fridge. My SIL told me something about peanuts going moldy and I feel like it keeps it fresher. We only have an issue spreading once we get to the last few tbsp.

@irene: any nut or seed butter I buy I store it in the fridge once opened.

Traditional PB is def pantry but we use Teddie (the best natural IMO!) and it goes in the fridge.

Oh wow, I had no idea, I've been keeping all kinds of nut butters in the fridge as I thought that's where it supposed to go! Does this only apply to peanut butter or all other kinds of nut/nut-similated butters (eg. almond butter, sunbutter....etc.)?

For those saying the natural peanut butter gets hard in the fridge, make sure you mix it well before you put it in there!

I actually scrape all mine out into a bowl when I first open it, mix all the oil in until it's a nice creamy consistency and then I put it back in the jar. It takes some time, probably 10 minutes, but I've never had to deal with hard peanut butter.

Always in the pantry. I tried the fridge before for the natural stuff and it was so hard and stiff to use. Never had an issue with spoiling.

I buy natural and used to leave it in the fridge but then it got so hard that when I went to spread, it would break the bread. Now I leave it on the counter. The oils do separate and I have to stir it a little but at least it’s spreadable.

Ours says refrigerate after opening so it goes in the fridge. The Market Pantry (I think Target generic?) says “to reduce oil separation, refrigerate after opening”.

Agree with the above- pantry for regular, fridge for natural that you have to stir.

@MrsKRB: most of my natural PB doesn’t get hard at all in the fridge. Like it’s still runny usually. And I’ve bought a bunch of different brands.

It depends. Pantry for something like Jif or Skippy. Fridge for something without hydrogenated oils that separates, because the cold will prevent separation and because those don't have preservatives.
