@littlebug: thanks - I don't drive much in the city, but that does seem like a pain
@looch: yah, will ask to see it, but I don't want them to feel like I am judging their stroller :) fine line to walk- may be easier to accept and then donate if it doesn't work for us

Thanks for the responses!

Can you see it in person and give it a test drive? I know it's great to get free stuff, but I would be soooo disappointed if I got the thing and it was terribly beat up or had crappy wheels...that was what killed it for me on a lot of strollers...I needed air filled tires.

@ChitownRo: A friend gave us a Frog that she no longer needed. I hated it and put it on the street for someone to pick up for free. The fold process itself is not difficult, but you have to take the seat off in order to fold it, which is not practical for someone living in the suburbs who drives everywhere.

@ChitownRo: I think when I looked at the chameleon the only differences were that the frog tires aired up with actual air instead of having foam-like filling, and the handle on the chameleon was adjustable. But we got the frog for like half the price of the chameleon at the time (on totsy.com I think?) so I was totally ok with forgoing a few extra features to save so much. I would take it - worst case scenario like you said you can buy the donkey. I've heard bad things about the little board you can add to the back of it for a toddler though - basically that it is situated right where you want to walk so it makes it harder to handle. We are expecting our second right now and I think we'll just use the stroller for the baby and have the toddler walk, b.c he's on such a "I'm a BIG boy" kick right now that anything 'babyish' is a total insult. Or if we are going somewhere like the zoo that is a big outing we could just pop the baby in the ergo if he wants to ride after awhile. I've heard the donkey is really wide and now that we no longer live in Chicago where we walk everywhere the business case just isn't there to spend so much on a double. :p

@matador84: we can't really go wrong with a free stroller, right? worst case, buy the donkey like we were intending

We have the frog, bought it when we lived in Chicago and it was totally great. It worked everywhere, in the snow, on uneven sidewalks and the folding process is super easy. I'm under the impression that its very similar to the chameleon.

I have never heard of the frog....but we are looking at getting the donkey since ours will be less than a 1.5 years apart! I'd probably just take it. It still seems like a pretty decent and expensive stroller.

i know the frog is an old model, so it may be hard to find moms who use it.

we were originally planning to buy the donkey upfront as we intend to have kids close in age. but, one of DH's coworkers is offering the frog for free (they are upgrading to the donkey with their 2nd bebe). very nice of them.

my initial thought was, free stroller, of course, let's take it. but now, after reading a few reviews, i'm a little worried about using it in the snow and the folding process.

any HBers with experience? thanks!
