Fingers crossed the antibiotics get rid of it all!! </p> <p>Also, the last time LMW went on antibiotics stronger than just amoxicillin for e coli she had horrible... diarrhea. :( but it was because the antibiotics were killing all the good bacteria along with the bad in her gut. The pediatrician had us use a probiotic but it didn't seem to make much of a difference. We had two weeks of sporadic diarrhea and vomiting at the beginning of December and ended up on Alinia. It worked super fast and he was back to himself with no more GI issues and back to daycare after 2 days. But his stool sample was negative again. Both the GI specialist and his pediatrician mentioned that it could technically take dozens of stool samples to find a parasite, though, so I didn't have my hopes up that we'd pinpoint the little sucker. In any case, we're starting 5 days of antibiotics (Alinia) and hopefully this will be done for good. We've had a good week, so things have been looking up, though we're still battling nausea some. Zofran has been helpful in that department, though. We had a late appt and it was 1.5 hrs away, so it was a long day, but we have a plan. She thinks it's most likely a parasite but we'll be testing for celiac just for peace of mind. And she also said that stool samples have a high rate of human error, so they're notoriously wrong. Going to test for a few more specific parasites, but if nothing comes up with either the blood or stool, we'll likely just treat him for parasites anyways. But he's had a couple good days again, so were just praying it's made its way out of his system and he's done. If he gets through tonight, then that's the longest he's gone without problems. When we were getting her diagonsis, they were initially worried about celiac disease. You might have the doctor run that test, it was a blood draw I believe. Otherwise, I highly recommend a pediatric allergist, ours was a lifesaver, and we got answers quickly.
