It's possible that you might also be having an annovulatory cycle, especially with longer cycles and coming off the pill. There are a ton of people who have gotten pregnant ovulating late in long cycles, though. When I was TTC and came off the pill, I used OPKs and realized that even though I'd get a Lh surge, I never or rarely ovulated. Good luck! Opks are tough sometimes. I ended up using the digital ones to make it easier on myself!

@snarkybiochemist: Thanks!

@Cole: That's good to know. I was starting to think that maybe my OPKs were duds or something. I'm currently trying to figure out if I'm ovulating at all... my first cycle was 42 days and I definitely didn't ovulate and then the second was 67 days and I think I may have ovulated on CD55 even though I never got a + OPK (based on temping and CM). This is my third cycle since going off the pill and based on my temps, OPKs and CM I haven't ovulated yet. But I only used OPKs on CDs 13, 15, 17, 18, 19 so I really have no idea, but I'm thinking that I could ovulate SUPER late!

I second @snarkybiochemist it's definitely possible to get a semi dark line but not positive and then have it fade and come back positive later. Are you sure you'll ovulate so late in your cycle? CD 19+ is on the late end for "normal"cycles so it's also possible you missed it if you weren't testing earlier in your cycle.

@YYCBee: Its possible you could still ovulate and the way you described it is the way everything is supposed to happen but it doesn't always. Taking Charge of your Fertility is a great resource for this stuff.

@snarkybiochemist: So LH can increase and decrease and increase again in the same cycle?
I had no idea.... based on all the graphs explaining the relationship b/w estrogen, LH and progesterone during the menstrual cycle I always assumed it was constantly increasing until ovulation!

Does this mean that there may still be hope that I could ovulate this cycle still?

OPKs detect LH and it is possible to have increased LH but not ovulate. My anovulatory cycles I would see faint lines without much progression and then sometimes an almost positive. You can have increased LH a few times before it crosses over the threshold and you ovulate.

Hello all!
I'm still relatively new to charting and using OPKs and since my cycles have been very long and crazy since going off the pill I feel like I need all the help I can get.

Some background:
I went off the pill in August and am only on my 3rd cycle since then. First was 42 days with crazy temps and no ovulation. Second was 67 days and I *think* I may have ovulated around CD55 because I had a temp spike then drop then spike again and a period two weeks later. I also thought I saw EWCM the day before the first temp spile. Both cycles I only had a two day very light period. Nothing compared to my periods before (both on the pill and off).

Now I've been trying to use cheapy OPKs to figure out when and if I'm ovulating at all, but I haven't had much success because of my crazy cycles. So far every OPK I've used the test line has been SUPER faint or non-existent. However 3 days ago I got one that was almost as dark as the control. I immediately thought "finally! I'm going to get a positive one soon!"

Anyway since then they've gone back to faint, and I haven't had a temp spike or noticed any CM. Anybody have any advice?

In the photo the strips are as follows:
Jan 3 (CD19)- FMU (I know you're not supposed to but I was curious)
Jan 2 (CD18) - 6pm after a 3 hour hold but still not super concentrated urine
Jan 1 (CD17)- 8pm with super concentrated urine because I was really hungover from NYE!
