@HolisticMama: staying the same:-/. Had super watery/almost EW CM last night but not this morning. I'm trying to calm the anxiety by being positive (hard for this pessimist!)....you're sweet to ask! Thanks!

@lovehoneybee: Awesome advice! I have a 3-hour training tonight, so we'll have to see who is up for what at 10 PM  . It's a fine line between wanting to make sure "something" is there just in case O happens, but also wanting to reserve the "good" stuff closer to the time? We'll see!

@snowjewelz: The latter--the next time I tested (new urine) it would be a little bit darker.

@lovehoneybee: About the fade in/out thing, you're saying after you test and see let's say her pic, it will just get darker by itself if you keep the test out? Or you mean the next day you take another and it gets darker & darker?

I now only start OPKs when I see fertile cm. That is a little too faint to say anything is going on. Usually I get one that makes me go ah darker than usual and then the next day I will get a positive. Personally I like the line ones as I find they give me more warning than digital. There was a thread recently on OPKs.

@ChiCalGoBee: I always had a "fade in/out" effect...it would start out looking something like that and darken over the next few days until it was as dark as the control line, then after I ovulated it would fade back out over 2-3 days.

But I'm of the opinion that if you're both (ahem) up for it you should start as soon as you see anything. Doesn't hurt to get some extra swimmers up there! (the cycle I conceived my son we only managed to have sex once, 2 days prior to ovulation...)

@CatchAFallingStar: Thanks for the awesome tips and link! Yes, I think I'll invest in the Smiley Face for next cycle. A bit too late for this cycle since we're headed out of town so it's too late to "prime" it:-).

@T.H.O.U.: Thank you so much! Great information. My body is "telling" me it isn't time yet (ahem), but saw these at the grocery store and figured why not? I'll keep doing them daily until the box runs out.

@ChiCalGoBee: As far as I know, OPKs aren't positive until the test line is as dark as or darker than the control line. I hate regular OPKs because they're SO hard to read! I highly recommend digital. A smiley face is just so much easier to read (and more cheerful) than a line.

You are right it's not positive. It could stay that way for quite a long time and then suddenly jump to a dark positive. It's really hard to say and that's why OPKs are really frustrating. Basically I would try for every other day and when you see a positive try for three days in a row.

Took one of these for the first time today. It's "negative" for LH surge, clearly, but since something showed up does that mean "something" is going on? E.g. it should get darker as the days go by and O is on the way? Just trying to time BD correctly, and haven't done as much OPK research as I have on BBT and CM. Thanks to anyone who is willing to give advice!
