@kiddosc: I used them a couple cycles before and recorded the info into FF.

@pinkcupcake: @MaryM: @Pepper: thanks for the input. I'll test again when I get home.

I was going to write almost exactly what @kiddosc: wrote. Once you get your surge, the second line will be very dark, and then that lovely smiley face will appear! I think I used these tests two times a day starting around day 10 of my cycle. I had a pretty good idea when I O'd because I charted.

I second @kiddosc:

And I would add, that it's not a bad idea to start BDing even before you get a smiley. DH and I did that last month, and we hit O-3 (still considered a fertile day since sperm can live up to 5 days)

Had I waited for the smiley, we would have missed that.

Is this your first month using OPKs? If you haven't used them before and have only been tracking your cycle length, then FF can't really know when you are ovulating, it's just guessing. Your luteal phase could be shorter than the "average." The 1.5 lines means that your LH levels are on the rise, but not that you are spiking yet. Keep using the OPKs until you get that smiley face. Also, a positive OPK means that you will ovulate in the next 12-36 hours, not that you are currently ovulating. So it's best to keep up with the sexy times for a day or so after a positive OPK.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: That's what I'm inclined to think. I've been using the same OPKs as well, and rather than testing once a day, I'm thinking it's better to try at least twice a day to catch it if you surge in the late PM.

I think the OPKs are actually making me miss more of my fertility window because I'm only testing once each day (per instruction) and relying on them so much :T

Ok, my husband really wants a baby now blah, blah I am in the middle of testing...

I have the OPK that shows a happy face on the two fertile days.

day 1 test- no happy face, I pulled the stick out and one distinct line appeared
day 2 test- same as day 1
day 3 test- no happy face, but I had 1.5 distinct lines

I am only testing in the AM per OPK box instructions. Does the 1.5 lines mean I am spiking and ovulating? According to FF day 3 is my last day of projected fertilization before I go into of projected ovulation. I track cycles only on FF- no charting here.
