This is so informative - thank you! This is my first month temping/testing (just to get the hang of it - TTC in 2012) and I got positive OPKs yesterday and today, but my temp hasn't spiked yet.

I just got my second dark day of OPKs yesterday. I usually get a positive OPK on CD10. This is the first cycle where I'm OPKing through Wednesday at least to see the surge. I'm on a 27 day cycle. My doctor's advice was to get on from CD8-20 every other day based off of the OPKs on CD10. I'm going to OPK tonight to see if it's a positive or not.

I got two days of positives: the first day was dark, the second day was dark-dark. I assumed that I would have ovulated 12-24 hours after the second day.

i think the OPK only tells you when you're surging, not when you ovulated. meaning you should probably ovulate around 24-36 hours after you get your first smiley face.

Oh great, thanks guys! At least I know I don't have faulty tests, haha...my temp spiked this morning, so I'm guessing I O-d yesterday.
We'll wait and see, and BD just in case ;)

I'm a little rusty, but you can get +OPK's for a couple days. It depends on when you released the egg. I got smiley face for 2 days, and usually the positive indicated that you ovulated. If it was darker today, I'd guess you ovulated late yesterday or early today

I usually get two days of positives too and I generally O on the day of or the day after the second one. I confirm my O by temping.

So, I've been charting for 10 cycles now, but this is the first time I've used OPKs. I thought I was using them wrong, because I just wasn't getting a positive reading. Then last night, I tested one last time before giving up and just going with the crosshairs that FF gave me, and it was positive!
I tested again this afternoon, and its an even darker positive.
Is it normal to have two days of positives? Is it a 24-hour thing? And does that mean I ovulate today, or tomorrow?
So. Many. Questions!
