Even when she wears pink, people call her a boy. So we try to stay pretty girly. I do have some boys shirts that she gardens in.

I draw the line at costumes. I wouldn't let my son go to school in a firefighter outfit any more than he could go in a princess dress.

I want to avoid gender-programming my kiddo as much as I can. So, unless it is something s/he especially wants, I don't intend on buying them any particularly gendered clothing to start with. Also, then I can recycle more for the next kiddo if they aren't the same sex.

My daughter is a total cross-dresser hahaha -- but it's more a question of hand-me-downs. If I had an older girl and a younger boy, I'd probably be able to salvage some items but unfortunately truly unisex clothing is harder to come by.

@rattles: yes! That drives me nuts, so I bought LO one of the boys onesies that says "smartie pants."

We have some boys stuff that LO wears - especially when it is high quality hand-me-downs from her cousins like Hanna Anderson pjs.

I really like things with frogs for her and a lot of them were in the boy section! Haha, and she has some baseball team onesies that I consider neutral but were also in the boys section.

My son's favorite shirt is a pink, light blue, and yellow tie dyed shirt with glittery stars and a glittery alligator. My SIL gave it to him for Christmas and my husband actually loves it so much that he wants to make an adult replica for himself!
I don't have a line as of now, but he does dress in mostly items made for boys.

I bought my LO boys jeans because they run a little bigger and longer than the girls version. This way I can fold them up while they're still a little baggy but I can get her to wear them through the spring and fall and winter and possibly into the spring of the next year.

My husband complained the other day that all LOs clothes are "girly"... he said he would like to see her in jean shorts and a t-shirt. I pulled out a grey Mini boden shirt with a hot air balloon on it... I knew it was technically a boys shirt, but thought it was gender neutral enough. I put her in the shirt and jean shorts, per his request. When he saw her he said, "I changed my mind, she looks kind of like a boy in that...I guess you were right that she looks better in girly stuff." I did not tell him that it WAS technically a boys shirt. My guess is that something about it, like the cut, made it look boyish. The end result though is that my husband is back to deferring to me to dress her, which is fine by me, lol. I will try to buy her some more tshirts though, since I inadvertently sabotaged the t-shirt trial!

@Bao: That new brown bear shirt caught my eye for DD too!

She pretty much only wears/has girls clothes, but I would buy something from the boy's section if she liked it and it fit well enough. Sometimes the gender disparities bug me - like last year, Baby Gap had a line where all the girl's clothes said "so cute" and had sparkly stars and the boys line said "so smart" and had glasses, or something of the like.

I don't know how much girl clothes I would let the boys wear. So much of it is impractical. Like strappy sandals or white dressed or tutus. It being pink or purple I don't really care about but I don't particularly like that stuff anyway.

But some buy stuff I don't like either. A lot of pants are so restrictive for someone learning to crawl or walk or potty train. I don't like really stuff fabrics or skinny jeans.

If I had a girl she would probably be dressed more boyish!
