I ate oranges and she was pretty fussy, but I'm thinking it could be coincidental and I'm going to try again!

I think it depends on the baby. I didn't make any dietary changes when I BF DD and she was fine. With DS I'm finding that he is a little more gassy/prone to spit up so I am watching (not eliminating at this point) how much of certain foods I eat. I already limit my caffeine to one soda a day (don't drink coffee) and milk is usually just on cereal.

I love orange juice. I don't always keep it around because I drink it so quickly. I never noticed any affect on her. But she never seemed to react to anything I ate.

I think it depends on the baby. I remember reading that you should avoid a whole list of foods while breastfeeding, which i thought was ridiculous. How can a Korean girl give up garlic and onions?

I drank OJ and i was fine. Hope your baby doesn't have issues!

I drink orange juice, eat spicy foods, have dairy, one coffee every morning, and haven't changed my diet at all. We have had no problems, and he's almost 6 months old now, so we've 'tested' this out for a long time.

I think that some babies naturally have more problems with acidic foods than others. One of my friends almost had to give up BF because her son was breaking out so badly. He finally grew out of it.

I say eat how you normally eat and if there are reactions then deal with it.

I don't drink a ton of juice, but I have never noticed an issue. It may depend on how sensitive your LO is. I would say be open to trying juice but just be on the look out for symptoms and know that it "could" be related.

so I've been reading a lot the past two weeks about breastfeeding and have read the following in two different places:

- do not drink orange juice because it is acidic and can give your baby diaper rash and/or cause colic. (http://www.livestrong.com/article/294060-foods-to-avoid-to-prevent-colic-while-breastfeeding/)

- do drink orange juice and eat oranges for vitamin C.

has anyone either drank OJ and been fine, or drank it and had their LO react? So far she doesn't seem to react to anything I eat (dairy, red sauce) but I haven't tried anything really spicy yet, either.
