Womp womp.</p> <p>I don't think it's fair to say that you're a bad mom because you're not buying an organic mattress. If that's the case, there are A LOT of bad moms! We bought a natural mattress by Natura, and was very happy with it. To offset the cost we got an IKEA crib. They were about $100 each at costco. Then I bought organic mattress pads and sheets, which was actually a bigger deal to me since it's more direct contact.</p> <p>But I don't dress my kids in exclusively organic cotton or feed them exclusively organic food. You do what you can do. A regular mattress isn't going to hurt your baby. I try to minimize exposure to toxins, but you can't do it all. Particle board furniture off gasses, too! Toxins are everywhere. I think companies definitely try to manipulate parents by making us feel bad if we don't wrap our kid in organic bubble wrap.<br /> In my mind, it's all about minimizing exposure and making decisions about what we can afford. I was unaware about the chemicals that are in the regular mattresses, but at the same time, I grew up with a regular kid mattress and I'm fine. </p> <p>Is it worth getting an organic mattress? Or would I be a bad parent by getting the best mattress that we can afford right now (non organic)? </p>
