Definitely it affected me more than Arrival - I think I was thrown off by the weird CGI effects in Arrival towards the end (trying to avoid spoilers). They both made me sneak into my boys' rooms and watch them sleeping, though. I thought they were both good but not great. I had low expectations for La La Land, so was pleasantly surprised and I LOVED the ending (my husband hated it). Arrival made me more teary than Lion and Manchester combined. Moonlight....I guess I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't quite it. I didn't love the ending and didn't feel like I had closure with the main character, if that makes sense. We plan to watch Moonlight and maybe Manchester by the Sea this weekend. </p> <p>I'd love to see Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone win but that's at least partly just because I love them. I thought Dev Patel was so good in Lion, especially given that a lot of his role was looking intensely at Google Earth. I wish the little boy who played young Saroo was nominated, he was phenomenal. </p>
