This morning was a success. I offered a cup of Milk and Cheerios right away and that worked like a charm! The nap and bedtime nursing will certainly be much harder. I just don't know how to get him to sleep without breast feeding first. Seems like this will be a big challenge .

I'd probably say cut out morning first, then nap. Maybe have your partner do bedtime when you're ready to cut that session out? Maybe talk about it for a few days first so he knows what to expect? Good luck!

@jh524: I'm weaning DD, she's 10 months and I'm 13 weeks too. I've just replaced feeding with sippy cups of WCM. She doesn't seems to kiss nursing.

I nursed right through my pregnancy but we cut back to once a day (usually nap time so we could both sleep!). I feel like a two year old is mature enough to understand limits and have some empathy for your pain so talking with him about nursing is a good place to start. We also transitioned away from nursing to sleep by adding books into the bedtime routine and remaining in the room while LO went to sleep.

No advice to add, but i'm in the same boat minus being pregnant. My daughter is 2.5 and still nurses to nap and sometimes in the morning. I thought she was weaned when we went on vacation for 5 days and she never nursed, but as soon as we got home she started again.
We dropped the nightime nursing session at 1.5 with my husband taking over bed time duties and creating a "new" routine full of books and songs and a cool new cup.

We weaned at 18-19 months because of that, it hurt so bad! He was winding down anyway, so I stopped offering and found a distraction for him if he wanted to nurse. My husband took over some of the bedtime routine so it helped too.

We just weaned our second at 18 months, again I just stopped offering. He's so busy with big bro that he hardly noticed and only when he's upset. I've even been able to snuggle him to sleep without nursing, which has been great!

Ouch! I remember that pain. My son was much younger when I got pregnant with my DD (14 months). I weaned him at 18 months because of the pain. I just started offering him a bottle of warmed milk and he never looked back. Maybe you can offer a sippy cup of milk?

This exact thing happened to me. I didn't offer and if he asked I tried my hardest to distract him. My husband had to take over bedtime for about a week.

No we nursed if he asked, but the milk was mostly gone and he only nursed in the morning and when he woke up from nap so I just started handing him a cup and reading some favorite books right away so he was getting a cuddle and a drink another way.

Ouch! My DS weaned when I was about that pregnant, but no advice I'm afraid, it just tapered off when I stopped offering. I remember how much it hurts that was how I knew I was expecting. Good luck and congrats on the pregnancy!

Ok so we've been very successful at breastfeeding and lo is nearing close to 2 1/2 and I'm 13 weeks pregnant. My milk is getting less and less but his suckling is getting stronger. It hurts so badly especially being so tender!
He BF's when he wakes in the morning and nurses to sleep at nap and bedtime.... So how do I wean him?! The nursing to sleep has been great until now. How do I get him to sleep on his own without nursing to sleep. The suckling is getting stronger as my milk gets less!!! It's getting painful! Help?! ;)
I would love to hear your experience or any advice please!!!
