@bluestriped bee: @spaniellove: oh, cockers  my little guy had the appetite of a grown wolf. He ate leather goods (but only good leather!), and if any food disappeared without a trace, it was always him. One time he ate a big chunk of wasabi. He threw up later, but I think he still liked it, he was eating it with such delight on his face

Mine had a scented candles obsession when she was younger and also loved cat poo. They had very different effects on her breath! She also ate a bag of salted peanuts once, we finally found the empty packet after she rampaged through the house drinking ALL the fluids! Another time she broke into the room I was leaving our fruit wedding cakes to mature and munched through the middle of one layer (raisins and all). The list is endless...
Also, things I have fished out of her mouth:
Tinfoil (stuck to back teeth)
Metal tack
Sewing pin
Elastic band

My uncle also had a cat once who used to eat the weed plant growing on the window and then get the munchies and eat everything (bags of crisps, pineapple, raw cabbage).

@Cole: haha! Neighborhood cleanup duty!!

@spaniellove: Cockers are so obsessed with food.

So funny story, about the disposable heating pad. My cocker grabbed it from my night stand and started chewing it in our bed while the DH was sleeping. (I had left for work already.) DH woke up and the first thing he sees is a dirty diaper (think white pad with black pellets) laying next to him. First, he's confused why it is in our bed, then he's trying to figure out how the cocker got access to a dirty diaper. We did have guests staying with us with one of their two kids in diapers. He said he was mortified. But then he looked closer and saw it looked like bricks.

A whole bag of m&m's when he was a puppy-he got chocolate toxicity from it. A whole rotisserie chicken skeleton, it was touch and go for a while whether he would need surgery.

My dog found a frozen solid piece of a baguette in our backyard last week that I guess a squirrel must have left there. He brought it inside with him and I caught him gnawing on it later. Not really that weird but I was like "Wha?? How did you get that???".

Nothing too weird lately, but all of a sudden they figured out that they can reach the cat food if they get on their hind legs. They always left it alone before, even though NOTHING is more exciting than cat food to them (and it's just boring dry food). Though they still don't realize that they could easily jump up to where it is (on top of a low chest) and get it. The cat has arthritis, so we have to keep it low, but for some reason the dogs can't seem to figure out that it's plenty low enough for them to jump up.

Usually my dog only pilfers bread from the kitchen but I left butter out to soften and he are almost 3/4 of a pound! He had a very upset stomach from it.

@bluestriped bee: Cigarettes are my dog's other weakness, I joke he goes on community clean up duty as we walk around the neighborhood. It's truly disgusting. He usually only gets the filters and as hard as we have tried we can't break gum of three habit so my fingers are crossed the nicotine threshold for poison is high!

@regberadaisy: My dog definitely did that with a tube of Aquaphor as a puppy, but it was a lot smaller! She is the lip balm bandit because if I leave any kind of lip balm around she'll be eating it. And @bluestriped bee: no surprise, it's our Spaniel mix. She's also eaten a kalbi bone...just before we had to take her on a cross-country flight, and we never saw the bone again. One time when we were moving out of the city I didn't catch her before she ate chicken bones off the street (why are there always freaking chicken bones on the street in the city?!). And when LO was born she ate a banana peel and that was what finally made her sick.

My cats have eaten strings and ribbons. One of them sucked a piece of sting down like a spaghetti noodle. My sisters golden retriever once ate an entire pizza. And a loaf of bread. My moms cat loves to lick plastic grocery bags. Animals are so weird...

Hides my face in shame...

Disposable heating pad and 6 cigarettes (over the course of 2 days)! We had guests over that smokes and he would steal them from their pockets, purse and used butts outside. After some weird trembling that happened a few days later (he didn't have any immediate signs the day he ate them), we took him to the emergency vet. Vet said the amount he ate wasn't toxic so she said he was fine. We took him to our regular vet to make sure everything was okay and he thought it was just stress from all the guests. So all is well in our house. But man, our cocker spaniel gets into a lot of stuff he's not suppose to get into. Our other dog doesn't even phase her when she sees new stuff. Our cocker is just so curious and hungry.

We were joking the the trembling was from nicotine withdrawl and we needed to get him on a doggie nicotine patch.

Oh, yeah, this same cocker got into some milk chocolate twice over christmas. We took the dogs back east and my MIL had Hershey kisses in the gift bags.

OMG! Poor puppy! hahaah. Dogs are ridiculous... they eat everything!

This was a couple of years ago (when I was pregnant with Char), but our golden ate a mango pit when I was cutting one in the kitchen, and dropped it. 6 months later (after we assumed it had already passed), it was blocking his intestine and we had to bring him in for surgery!

I went to grab the tub of aquaphor to put some on DD 1's face today. The thing was completely empty. Like clean, not a smidgen left. I just used it earlier this week so I was perplexed. I asked DH and he said he found it on the floor the other day like that. The only explanation I can think of is the dog ate it all. Completely licked clean... No wonder she had diarrhea today!

What's the dumbest thing your pet recently ate?
