I will say we got another video monitor when we moved and it has been helpful now that LO is attempting to climb out of her crib. I think they become more useful again in the older toddler stage but from 12-20 months we did without and it was fine!

We just got a nest cam recently, and I love it. Its through an app, so I can even see it when I'm away from home.

@Alivoo01: hmm, dh said it's supposed to start panning all over after 30 sec of pressing the hard reset but it didn't ever start doing that. Thanks for letting me know this, and ill tell him and see what he thinks.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: We had the flashing light issue too! This is what Foscam IT told us to do: "Please try hard resetting your camera and then, flash a torch light over the IR lights for a few seconds while IR lights are turned on."

We haven't done it yet because we haven't used the camera in awhile, and like you, I'm just so over it. I'll need to look at it again before #2 arrives though to see if it's salvgeable. lol

@Alivoo01: My Dh is a techie too, but he couldn't figure it out! When it's plugged in, the infared lights blink on and off and it won't load on any of our screens. That's why he tried to do a hard reset, but even that got no response from it. So weird! I'm pretty sure we're past the warranty too.

So weird that other's foscams seem to be fine. Maybe we'll go without for now. We have an audio that works just fine. We still need to paci wean and sleep sack wean, not sure I want to do that without a camera. I think I'm just addicted. :bummed: #firstworldproblems

We have a Foscam and it's been giving us issues the past year or so also. So annoying!!! Fortunately, my dad is techie so he doesn't mind working on it for us. I'm debating if I want to get another one with #2 or go with something else. I've heard great things about the Nest.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: Levana Sophia is currently $60 on Amazon! We have the Levana Lila and like it (have used 2 years) and now with baby #2 here we wanted an additional camera but bought the Sophia monitor last week since the cost was barely more than the Lila extra camera. It works great too!

I had an ibaby monitor that kicked the bucket at exactly 19 months too. I couldn't fix it no matter what I tried, and it was out of warranty. The company offered to repair it but it involved sending it to the US from Australia and I couldn't be bothered. I just stopped using the monitor completely and it was fine - I could hear DD when she woke up, and actually I was more relaxed not needing to see what she was doing in her crib. Now I need to get new monitor for new baby.

We've had various Foscams around our home, we use them a security system and they're at least 3 years old and have no issue. I wonder if it downloaded a virus or something and that's what is causing it to be "dead."

I love having a video monitor, especially now that LO is on a big girl bed and can easily climb in and out. So I would get another one. But I wouldn't get a foscam. I've seen too many stories recently about people hacking baby monitors so I would never get one that connects through wifi.

We've been using our foscam for nearly three years without issue. I would get another one. We actually have three now, one for LO1, one for the baby, and one in our playroom. LO1 is almost three but I still use it, mostly for naps but occasionally if he's playing by himself in his room.

How well is your LO sleeping? Our monitor (Samsung - HORRIBLE) crapped out when LO was about 12 months. She was STTN consistently and her room was right next to ours. So we just left both doors open and went without a monitor for a year. It was honestly great - any time she woke up and cried in the night I could hear her right away. I could tell if it was a frantic cry and would go in. If not I would give it 5-10 minutes. I didn't really need to see her and ditching the video monitor really helped me sleep better because I was not obsessing.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: yea i get it. it would be really weird to not see our LO since i'm use to it! But I wonder if it would be just another thing you get used to. Like it was weird when we first moved our LO to her room bc it felt omg-so-far-away and now it is just normal.

@yellowbird: I'm really surprised too! I'll look into a warrantee for it.

@Mae: I think I'm just so used to it and it's SO nice to see her when I want to. Her sleep has been really good lately so I can see being OK with no video, but ugh. I don't want to drop $100+ on one either.

We have a samsung video monitor that is still going at almost 16 months. But it is sort of flaky (granted we have a lot of walls between LO's room and us... but it goes out a LOT). Due to the fact that it loses signal a lot, when we moved her to her room I got a cheap (like, less than $20 I think) audio monitor on amazon to use as backup because we can't hear her cry from our room without the monitor. That has worked 100% totally without fail. If our video monitor broke at this point I don't know that I would replace it. I guess it depends on how your kid sleeps though. Our sleep situation is (knock on wood) pretty clear cut at the moment. If she isn't crying, she stays in the crib. If she is crying and it has ben 5+ minutes, see if she pooped. If she didn't poop, she stays in the crib. So the video isn't that important.

DD is 19 months old and our camera just stopped working out of nowhere. DH tried to do a hard reset but nothing happened, so he's thinking it's done. I'm not sure where to go from here. It's driving me crazy that I can't see into her room to watch when she falls asleep, wakes, why she's crying, etc. Did anyone stop using a video monitor early? Should we just get another one? If so, which one? Not sure I want another foscam, but do they all break that fast? Ugh, I'm annoyed.
