We're in Edmonton, and here, as soon as the snow is gone it's shorts and sandals season. I have an outdoor playpen with a sunshade currently out for delivery to keep the dogs away from the little one, so I'll try putting her in there with some toys and a blanket. I regret giving the chair back to my friend now!

My girls are the same ages as you, and we've been playing outside a ton. I wear the baby at the park, but in our yard, I bring a blanket and some toys and do her tummy time out there. I also bring the bumbo and let her watch us play with bubbles or give her a little bowl of water to splash around in with her hands (though it may still be a little cold for that where you are). Sometimes I just walk her around the garden to see/smell/touch different flowers or plants.

@travellingbee: Oh we still play outside in that weather, but I think it's on the cold side! of course, toddlers don't care!

@Mamasig: Oh, I see. I am in Texas and while I think that 54 is pretty chilly, I don't think it's too cold to go outside. We definitely played outside in the winter here when it was in the 50s. But everyone has different tolerance levels to cold

I have a 3.5 month old and 27 month old. Baby sister is worn unless she falls asleep in the stroller on the way to the park. Works out well and I get a touch of exercise while following big sister around.

Yes, I meant Celsius! Sometimes I forget most bees are in the US, and use Fahrenheit.

Good suggestions everyone! I gave her bouncer chair back to my friend who I was borrowing it from, but the bumbo is a good idea! I have a carrier, but I find that I can't run around after the toddler with her in it. I wish I had a small pack and play for outside.. All I have is a full size one that we use in the basement, and she doesn't fit in our travel bassinet anymore, she's so tall.

Most of the moms I see at the park with an infant and a toddler are babywearing--a few keep their infants in the stroller while the older one plays, and sometimes they put the infant on a blanket with some soft toys while the older one runs around.

I think babywearing is probably easiest, so you can chase the toddler and interact with them.

Pretty sure she means Celsius, y'all! That's about 54 degrees F.
@Sophs Mama: I would put the little one in a stoller or wear her.

Ok so assuming you meant Celsius then that makes it about 53 degrees F

Do you have a rock-n-play or pack-n- play? You could bring that outside for your younger child to sit in and bundle them with a blanket - or even the stroller!

Before my daughter could sit, she stayed in the tula carrier while my son played at the park. Or sometimes the stroller. Now that she can sit, I bring a towel for her to sit on. Don't know what I'll do when she starts crawling.

12 degrees? To me that's freezing!

I put DS2 in the stroller and walk him around while big brother plays. Eventually, I put him in the outside swing and now he goes in his walker. Early on I would put the bouncy seat or rnp outside for him to rest in. He loved being outside too.

Can you wear the younger? Or set her up in a bumbo, bouncer seat, etc? My kids are the same age, but when I was desperate to get some fresh air last year when they were little, I'd walk them around the neighborhood in our stroller so they'd fall asleep, then wheel them into the backyard. They could be covered in blankets with the sunshade down so they wouldn't get cold or too much sun. Maybe try that?

Is that 12 degrees Celsius I hope? Can you put the baby in a stroller with blankets or what not and go for a walk? Or just hang outside for a short period of time? Otherwise maybe play outside with your eldest while the baby is napping and bring your monitor with you outside (assuming that the monitor still works outside and you're staying in your yard)?

This might sound dumb, but my daughter wants to play outside every day, and I have a 5 month old that I have no idea what to do with. It's around 12 degrees outside, so not quite warm enough for her to lay outside, but not exactly cold either. She can't sit up yet either, which makes it harder.

What do I do? What would you do?
