No, we just got LO to use the public restroom. I thought about buying a portable seat thing but didn't want LO to depend on it for all our outings.

But, we do keep a potty chair in the backseat of the minivan for super emergencies if there is not a bathroom nearby or something.

@JoJoGirl: I consider the pooping a huge success so she is doing great if you ask me. Good luck this weekend. R keeps asking DH if he is done with her bathroom. Ha! I can't wait for it to be done and then we get going with this.

@Smurfette: Pretty well? She had a pee accident today and two yesterday, but no accidents for 2 days before that and all poops have been in the potty. We're going on a 4.5 hour road trip tomorrow though, so that'll be fun...

@Smurfette: Totally not a pain :) I've only done it once so far (our playground with no public bathroom), and it was just a pit stop before we got into the car in the grass near the parking lot. No big deal!

we bring the soft potty ring around. shes small for her age so its hard for her to sit on the toilet without some kind of ring. and also i don't have to worry about wiping the toilet seat! when we go out tho we usually bring the stroller so its easy to carry around.

@Smurfette: I generally trybto go to a quiet corner or the park, but if he has to go and were on the sidewalk I will pull the stroller in front of him so he's somewhat shielded. Or I've done it in the car as well.

Thanks guys. We are out and about a lot and honestly, I don't think there are that many public bathrooms that we can get to quickly when she is so recently trained.

@Beehive: Ahhhh yes random restaurants is a good idea!

@Mrs. Lion: public restrooms gross me out :silly: But I will obviously have to overcome that for my kids' sake. I think the ones around here are especially gross.

@JoJoGirl: Similar for us, long outings with walks or transit, hard to find bathrooms.

For us it's a lifesaver for long outings - we often walk for 30 mins to a playground play for an hour or more, then walk 30 mins home. There's no public restroom there. It would be IMPOSSIBLE without a portable potty.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: @BlueWolverine: @Mrs. Lion: @Mamasig: we travel a lot, my kid has been potty training for what feels like her whole life and that pottette plus with bags has been a lifesaver for us. we don't use it as a potty seat on public restrooms, but as a potty in the back of our car. it comes with bags that absorb the pee and then you just toss the bag out. i WISH my kid could hold her pee consistently or would tell me when we were in the store, but she doesn't, so this gives me another opportunity for her to go that's not me holding her up over the side of the road. i also have a really small bladder, so i'm prepared that this is just part of life. luckily, she doesn't have a problem going in the public restroom either, but this is just another spot for us. :)
