We have a nanny and she takes one of our cars when she takes them out (because her car is a small 2 door). In the past we had a nanny who used her own car and we supplied and installed the carseats. We leave cash for outings or reimburse her if she pays for things out of her own pocket.

Our nanny had an infant seat and a convertible seat that I was comfortable with. I checked the installation and she just leaves the seat in her car. However, before I knew that she had the seats, I offered to buy seats for her car.

We are in a nanny-share and just leave car seats at the house where she is watching the kids. She installs them every time they go some where (1-2 times per week.) Both families leave cash for snacks/outings, but we haven't talked about paying for gas. Something to bring up when we renegotiate terms next week since the other family is dropping out and LO2 will be arriving soon.

When I was a nanny and expected to drive the kids they gave me booster seats (older children), which I kept installed in my car. I let them know at the end of the week how much I paid for things like snacks and outings, and it was added into my paycheck the following week. I think they gave me cash each month for gas. I didn't specifically count mileage or anything, but whatever they paid me seemed fair.

My BFF has nannied a lot. She had permanent car seats in her car and was given a credit card (with limit) for outings and food. She was also given a weekly gas allowance on top of her salary.

Edit: for one job she actually drove one of their vehicles instead of her personal car. Her last nanny family was really kind and actually paid for some of the upkeep (oil changes/paid 1/2 of tires, ect.) to show they appreciated what she did.

Our nanny has always stayed at home with our LO. Thinking now I'd like them to start taking outings but a little confused logistically.

Do you buy extra car seats for the nanny? Do you expect them to leave them in all the time or do you trust they will re-install correctly? Do you give gas money on top of salary? We've done a background check, but do you do a more extensive one to check driving record/tickets?

Thanks for any input, I know most nannies leave the house with the kids so these are probably really silly questions...
